The Wedding Gift List. To have, or have not? To go with a traditional gift list provider such as John Lewis, or to squirm over finding the right words to politely suggest to your Guests, that they might want to donate monetarily to a honeymoon or home-improvement fund. Or maybe you are more inclined to do the eco-friendly/fair-trade thing?
But what if the whole 'money' thing makes you feel uncomfortable? And what if you actually can't think of any traditional house-hold items to add to a wedding gift list? Don't most couples about to embark on a lifetime of formal commitment to one another already have most of everything they actually need these days anyway?
Imagine then, if there was a company that specialised in providing a Wedding Gift List service of only truly beautiful, unusual antique and original vintage gifts. Think original bakelite telephones, antique silver and tableware and cutlery, original wall hanging maps and Globes dating back to the 1930s, antique pictures, prints and books - and that's just for starters. If this is something that interests you, then I think I've found the perfect Wedding Gift List service for you, in 'The Vintage Wedding List'...

The The Vintage Wedding List was set up by Camilla Cobham and Henry Alban Davies in response to the many requests they received for unusual and personal wedding presents. Camilla has worked in the antiques trade since 1999. She started her career at Phillips Auctioneers in Bond Street, where she went on to specialise in textiles. She later set up on her own as a private buyer, sourcing bespoke items for clients. Henry used to work in book publishing, but decided that he wanted to start buying old books instead of creating new ones.
Browsing through antique book-stores is one of my favourite pastimes, and I love purchasing antique books for my Husband. I adore the look of these two books below, which represent a much larger collection at The Vintage Wedding List, all of which have been helpfully categorised too; maps, childrens books, hunting and fishing, gardening and natural history books, home and cookery, literature...

market. Each piece is chosen with care and thought, ranging from the
inexpensive and fun to the fine and rare - catering for each and every budget. A perfect way to indulge any one's vintage loving fancies, be you a complete vintage enthusiast, or a novice with an interest in antique pieces.
The website categorises it's products as follows; Glass, Ceramics, Textiles, Kitchenalia, Maps & Books, Pictures and Prints, Miscellanea, Lighting, Silver, Garden and Outdoors and Mirrors.
I have a bit of a thing for bone handled knives and there is a fine selection within The Vintage Wedding List Tableware selection (don't worry, I just love the feel of the handle when I'm spreading my butter before I hit the marmite, that's all!) ... :)

The Vintage Wedding List is unlike other wedding list companies in that all products are purchased and then held in stock. Once an item has been added to a wedding list, it is reserved for the couple for the duration of their list, and if it isn't purchased it goes back into stock.
All presents are beautifully wrapped in tissue paper and ribbon, and messages are hand-written on luggage labels. Most of the packaging is environmentally friendly, and, like the presents, recycled. It's this special level of attention to detail that really helps a company such as this stand out, not least it's gorgeous products...

You can use The Vintage Wedding List exclusively, or to complement an existing list you may have elsewhere, making the service entirely flexible and adaptable to your needs. And guess what, you don't actually need a wedding list to buy from this fabulous Company; presents can be bought individually, not only for weddings, but also for Christenings and birthdays, or maybe some other special occasion. How absolutely brilliant is that?
Do be sure to make a note somewhere about The Vintage Wedding List; and treat yourself to a visit to the website, it really is an emporium of elegant and truly fabulous finds!
