A Wedding in Wales And A Headdress From Heaven…

I have been very excited about sharing this next set of wedding photographs with you.  Shot by one of our Sponsors (and, I have to say, really very lovely people) Tobiah Tayo, these images capture couple Nathan and Rhiannon on their beautiful Spring inspired wedding day, that took place on 24 April 2010 at Seiont Manor Hotel in Llanrug, Gwynedd, Wales.

"Tobiah stepped in at the last minute to cover our wedding, when our original photographer was stranded in India because of the Ash cloud. I am SO glad he was free – I am totally in love with our photos! Both Tobiah and his assistant Laura were such a pleasure to work with, and made us feel at ease throughout all the shoots. All of the guests commented on how they didn’t even notice he was there, a sign of a great photographer I reckon!

I have always felt that I am in no way photogenic but Tobiah brought out the best in both of us and I will treasure these photos for the rest of our lives. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for something above the standard wedding pictures :)"

I had to only look at one of these photographs to know I wanted to feature it on this wedding blog – everything about the Bride is so beautiful, but that headdress just blew me away.  More on that shortly….

Rhiannon's dress was Ahsten, by Augusta Jones, purchased from Brides Room of Birkdale

"I had originally wanted a Jenny Packham dress, loving her vintage style, but saw this dress and fell in love with its simple lines and delicate detail around the bottom. I think simplicity is the key!"

Rhiannon's pretty shoes were by Australian brand Wittner

Spring Florals…

Flowers were provided by Hartleys Nursery"I wanted spring soft colours, but also to keep the budget down wanted to go with seasonal flowers. My favourite were the pink and green parrot tulips. They were exactly what I'd hoped for, the florist did an excellent job and were very helpful and patient with me!"

"My brother wrote the 'soundtrack' if you like, composing the music for my entrance and exit, as well as an amazing song which he performed live with a good family friend during the signing of the register…"

"A friend of the family made our amazing cake after merely seeing a photo from google images! She handmade the roses and the chocolate shards."

Planning from Afar…

Rhiannon planned her wedding over 15 months, from Australia.  That's about as far away from her actual wedding venue as she could possibly get! Pretty impressive really…

"It took 15 months from booking the venue to the wedding day and it went so quickly, I was rushing round like a headless chicken the week before the wedding!  The Confetti website was my saviour in terms of decoration and ideas."

With this ring…

Rhiannon and Nathan's rings were by MDT Design of Melbourne Australia…"These guys made both of our rings to our specification – they are a fantastic bunch of people and were SO patient with me, they actually completely remade my ring as I hadn't explained properly what I had wanted. Then they adjusted it a second time until it was perfect. I would highly recommend this jeweller to anyone."

First Dance…

"Our first dance was  Groovin Slowly, by The Joh Butler Trio.  Nobody knew or had even heard fo this song as they are an Australian band, but it’s a song that has made us both laugh and dance to for a long time. Neither of us can dance so we though we may as well enjoy ourselves and mes around to a light hearted song!…"

All will be well on the day…

"So many things went wrong in the run up to the wedding, mainly due to the Volcanic ash cloud…my in-laws were stranded in Australia (we weren't even sure they'd make it over!), I could have the flowers i wanted for the centrepieces as they were coming from South Africa, my original photographer ws stranded in India, my chair covers didn’t fit – the list goes on! BUT…all that mattered in the end was that I was stood there in front of all our family and friends, marrying the guy I love with all my heart. Nothing else mattered!

One of my favourite parts was my brothers speech, made in place of my Dad who sadly passed away 10 years ago…it was so special…I just took the day as an opportunity to show and tell everyone there how much I care about them, because friendship and family are too easily taken for granted, I reckon."

Wise Words…

Rhiannon does admit to taking too much on herself – a valuable lesson for other Brides-to-be…

"Delegate – I took on too much, especially being so far away from all of the suppliers. Also plan ahead, and Invite who you want to invite, not who you think you should invite! – we only ad 60 people and I can honestly say that every person was in that room because they had played some part in both of our lives, it was so nice to have a group of people that all care about you and aren't just there because you felt a sense of duty to invite them! Also,  Let go! – having worked in hospitality for a long time, I found it difficult to let the hotel staff get on with their jobs, and it did dampen my enjoyment of the wedding breakfast, as I was constantly watching them thinking, this isn't right, I didn’t say to do it like that etc – at the end of the day, once you've got that dress on, you cant change anything so just enjoy yourself!"

Thanks so much Rhiannon for sharing your beautiful day with us – we feel honoured to have had the opportunity of looking through some of your wedding album and sharing your experience with our readers.  We hope you and Nathan have an absolutely fantastic Honeymoon! 🙂

Huge thanks too to Tobiah Tayo for allowing us to reproduce his imagery on our wedding blog – we are truly grateful.
