A little Bit of Vintage Boudoir…

We recently featured a cute little 'Rock The Dress' series of photographs, thanks to Shaneen, of Rosewarne Cox Photography.

I have since learnt that Bedfordshire Photographers Rosewarne Cox also provide a fabulous little Vintage Boudoir photoshoot package.  Shaneen herself told me more about this…

"Recently I’ve been getting a lot of enquiries from women about Boudoir
photography.  The photos are being used as gifts from Brides to their
Husbands to be on their wedding day, or as a first anniversary present
(which is paper) from newlywed Wives to their Husbands. I’ve also had
enquires about shoots for valentines presents and even enquires from
women who just want to do the shoot for themselves. It’s all about
feeling and looking fabulous! I create little photo books with 5-10
images from the shoot to be given as a gift. These have gone down very
well!"

"I love Vintage Boudoir. It works so well for women of all shapes and
sizes! I would describe my style as two extreme's. I love the subtle
vintage look- think ropes of pearls, big hats, pastel colours and
subtle make up.  I also love going the extreme route of 1940/50's pin
up- union jacks, red lips, big eyelashes, seamed stockings, and big
skirts!  I think there is a vintage style to suit everyone and at the
time of booking I discuss the type of images each client wants and go
through the outfits they have in mind.

I set up my first boudoir shoot as I wanted to create a bench mark to
the kind of look’s I’d be happy to do. I wanted to steer clear of
lingerie, feather bowers and seductive poses on a bed, which you see in a
lot of modern boudoir. I wanted the outcome of my shoots to be the
furthest thing from tacky possible. However, I recently did a boudoir
shoot that was very modern without being trashy. It can be done!  My boudoir photography is about looking and feeling fabulous within your
own skin."

"My make up artist is experienced in bridal make up and has done make up for some of my previous shoots. She researched 1940/50’s hair and make up for the first shoot so we could really play on the pin up era. 1940/50’s women were sexy without being revealing, there is no need for a lot of flesh to be on show to make these photos work."

"I am currently having a studio built which is due to be completed by
summer 2010. It will be fully set up for Boudoir photography. I am lucky
enough to have an amazing vintage shop in the town I live in and am
constantly searching for new props.  I love these kinds of shoots. They
really excite me! Women really respond well to them and I love nothing
more than a girly day filled with vintage outfits, jewellery, hair and
make up. My make up artist is in agreement, it’s a fun day’s work for
us!"
