A Claire Pettibone Bride and her Beautiful Beaded Dress…

Morning everyone 🙂 I hope this little real wedding introduction finds you well.  This next wedding I'd like to share was passed on to me recently by Scottish Wedding Photographers Elemental Weddings.  It is the celebration of Martin and Nicole Bogle who tied the knot in May this year at Dunkeld Cathedral, Dunkeld Scotland.

What drew me to this particular set of images was Nicole's beautifully beaded and vintage style Claire Pettibone wedding dress.

"I was looking for a lace vintage inspired dress.  While looking at bridal magazines, I had always liked dresses by Claire Pettibone.  Her styles of dresses were exactly what I was looking for.  The first day I went dress shopping, she happened to be having a trunk show for her spring 2010 line at the first shop I went to!  I immediately told my salesperson how much I loved Claire Pettibone dresses, so she let me pick out a few from her line to try on.

Once I tried on the third dress, I knew that this was the one!  I actually tried on a few more because I could not believe that I found my dress on the third try!  But, nothing compared to this dress.  My mind was made up.  After I decided on the dress, my salesperson took me out in the dress to meet Claire and take a few photos together!  Needless to say, I cancelled all my other dress appointments…"

Pretty Bridesmaids in blue I think you'll agree! 🙂

"We wanted the day to have a vintage feel to it.  I had three bridesmaids, they each wore full length, midnight dresses designed by After Six.  I then let each of my bridesmaids pick out silver shoes that they would feel comfortable in for the night – they all looked very elegant…"

Such a beautiful Claire Pettibone dress, I adore the pearls and beading…

"I wanted our wedding to have a vintage feel, classy and elegant.  But, I did not want that theme to become the "centerpiece" of our wedding.  I wanted simple touches to help reflect the vintage feel.  What was most important was that the wedding reflected who we were .  I kept this  in mind when choosing my dress, the locations, flowers, etc."

"I am from America and Martin is from Scotland (we both met in New York, where we now live).  My first visit to Scotland was in May 2006, and during this visit we went to Dunkeld for the day.  I immediately fell in love with this charming village by the River Tay, such a picturesque setting!   My first thought when I saw the Dunkeld Cathedral, (which I shared with Martin, who I had only been dating for 11 months!) was that if I married him, it would be at the Cathedral.  I told him that I could not imagine a more perfect location (how beautiful by the River Tay).  I was lucky that I did not scare him away with wedding talk, and in May 2010 I was able to have my dream wedding at the Cathedral with Martin!

We were lucky that there was also a fantastic setting for our reception, not even 5 minutes away from the Cathedral.  The Dunkeld House Hotel (by Hilton) is a beautiful country house (also by the River Tay), which just seemed to fit into our idea of the perfect Scottish/vintage wedding. The wedding coordinator (Julia Daily) and staff here our tops!

Martin and I could not have asked for a more perfect day, our wedding was truly fabulous!"

"After I chose the dress, I knew that I wanted a short veil matching the style of the dress.  As I discussed this with my friends, the salesperson spoke with the designer of my dress Claire Pettibone, who agreed to make a veil to match the dress!  I loved my veil and wore it for most of the evening!"

Nicole's lovely bouquet was provided by Williamson Design Florist Ltd in Pitlochry – Nicole's contact there was Carol Williamson.

"When I met with Carol, I told her that I wanted simple, yet elegant flowers that would go with the vintage feel (and match the colours ivory, midnight, and sky blue).  She came up with ivory roses, blue hydrangeas, and thistles.  Carol made choosing the different bouquets, centrepieces, etc. easier than I thought it would be.  The flowers turned out fantastic!!"

What a beautiful photograph!

"Since we were planning the wedding from New York, we did a lot of research on the internet.  After looking at the winners of the Scottish VOWS Awards Website (Scottish Wedding Industry Service Awards), we decided to meet with Jay and Christina of Elemental Weddings when we were in town.  Immediately after our meeting, we knew that they would be the perfect photographers for our wedding.  We loved their fresh style and easy-going/friendly personalities. They did a fantastic job, our photographs are wonderful.  They captured the day perfectly."

"In keeping with the simple yet elegant theme, we decided on cupcakes with ivory icing and some topped with blue thistles.  These were some of the best cupcakes I have ever had and were provided by 3D Cakes of Edinburgh…"

Vintage Picture Frame Decor…

"We choose picture frames for the table numbers, so they would be low on the table.  They were bought in a small shop in New York…"
