A Surprise Proposal & A Pretty Vintage Ring…

I get to see a lots and lots of very beautiful wedding related photographs – huge parties of people celebrating, Brides looking resplendent in their dresses and adoring friends and family all gazing on to the newlyweds and smiling for the camera.  And every now and then, I also receive a suite of photographs on a far more intimate scale.  Like these pretty images from Photographer Shaneen Rosewarne Cox.

And I'll often wonder the story behind the images, before asking the Photographer that is.  Doesn't that old saying go, 'a picture speaks a thousand words'?  I'll get lost in my thoughts wondering a thousand different scenarios and considering how the photographs came to be?  Who is that pretty lady and why was she celebrating with a 'rock the dress' shoot?  What about that ring? Is it vintage? Where is the location? Was this a surprise or planned? … and what about that pretty dress?

The story behind these photographs is delightfully romantic, as  usual.  Photographer Shaneen explained…

"The subject in the photograph is actually one of my friends; she and her partner were holidaying with us in Bude (which is where the shoot took place).  They have been together for 8 years and he secretly planned to propose to her whilst we were down there.  She was over the moon and it came as a total surprise!  I persuaded her to do a shoot, styled around her gorgeous vintage ring which they bought in Cornwall too.  It was part of a collection that is due to be melted down! – I wanted to run back in and save them all, but apparently the vintage rings aren't selling as well now – I couldn't believe it!  The stone itself is some sort of black gemstone, they couldn't identify it, which made it all the more appealing to me – totally unique.

We combined both our wardrobes and put together a look; the couple are planning a small wedding in a couple of years and my friend is hoping to wear something very similar to the dress in the photographs 🙂The shoot took place at Bude, but mostly at Summerleaze beach, during sunset."

A Surprise Engagement & A Pretty Vintage Ring...

And what a beautiful engagement ring it is! The stone actually looks very like jet to me – I got married in Whitby and jet is very popular in all the little jewellery shops that line the cobble-stone streets there 🙂

I just love these photographs – and what a lovely and very special way for this Bride to Be to recall her romantic holiday away in Bude, where the love of her life asked her if she'd marry him 🙂
