A Relaxed English Wedding ∼ Vintage Style Bunting and Beautiful Lace…

Morning All 🙂 I have a little bit of pretty for you today – a sweet English wedding with a splash of vintage loveliness.

This wedding first appeared on new wedding blog Whimsical Wonderland Weddings, written by the lovely Lou, but Bride Emily contacted Love My Dress full of excitement about her wedding photographs and asking if they could be featured on these here pages 🙂

Emily and Ben tied the knot on 1 May this year at The Ashes, in Staffordshire; "The minute we drove up to the Ashes we knew it would be the place we
chose to have our wedding. Grade 2* listed the 2 barns have been
beautifully restored with so much love by Ben and Sarah that we were
overwhelmed with our how amazing it was. We used one barn for the
ceremony and the other for the wedding breakfast, there was a courtyard
between the two barns where where had our reception drinks and a string
quartet played on the front lawn whilst we had our photos."

Emily's pretty as pie lace dress is a Pronovias number, that she purchased from Eternity Bride & Groom in Warrington

"I knew i
wanted a Pronovias dress from the beginning, their dresses are so
beautiful and i would have been happy in any of them. I found on the
internet that Eternity was a local supplier so booked a appointment to
try on some of their Pronovias collection. The minute i tried it on i
knew it was 'the one' the detail was beautiful and the style really
suited my figure but the deciding factor was that my bridesmaid and mum
burst into tears when they saw me in it!"

"The venue and my dress were the start of our theme they were both
vintage looking and we knew we wanted a relaxed wedding where every guest
felt special – which i'm glad to say we achieved as a month later our
guests keeping sending us messages saying how wonderful it was and how
honoured they felt to be invited to our special day."

Emily-Jane's shoes were a pair of Jimmy Choos, from Selfridges…

"Ben and I were engaged for
quite a while before we got married as we had to use the time to save
up! This length of time meant that i could really shoip around to try
and get all our wedding purchases within budget! I managed to get my
Jimmy Choos half price in the selfridges sale which meant i got to treat
myself on them as they were in budget!"

Emily-Jane's florist was The Black Rose, in Knutsford…

"I saw The Black Rose
exhibit at the RHS flower show a couple of years ago and thought they
were amazing so went for a meeting with them. As soon as I met with
Mark, their creative director, and explained 'my vision' we clicked
straight away and he totally got it. I knew he would do a fabulous job
and went the flowers arrived on the day I was overwhelmed with how
beautiful the table displays were.

My mum and I arranged all of
the flowers in the teacups and in the teapots, jugs etc. We did this as
another budget saving exercise and went to Birmingham flower market the
day before the wedding to buy all of the flowers wholesale. We then
spent the rest of the day creating all of the arrangements and they
looked FAB!"

A Groom (that's he on the right there!) getting ready 🙂

Ben's suit was a Saville Row.  His tie and shirt were from Thomas Pink and all of the grooms-men had sage green ties to match the colour of the bridesmaids dresses…

Emily-Jane's lovely and delicate lace trimmed veil was supplied by Eternity Bride & Groom
in Warrington
….

"The guys at
the shop were so helpful when i was buying my dress and they had such a
great selection of bridalwear that i got my veil and bridesmaids dress
from them too. The owner actually recommended my veil to go with the
dress – Originally, I had imagined something a little simpler, but when i
tried the one he chose, with my dress, it looked so amazing, I couldn’t
say no!"

Delightful Vintage Style Decor….

" I created all of the table décor myself. Everyone had a antique teacup
as a place setting, in the boys cups they had vintage sweets and in the
girls were flowers. My parents made marmalade (for the boys) and jam
(for the girls) favours. We bought little jams jars off the internet and
then made material lids from cath kidson material.   I also bought
vintage embroidered tablecloths and napkins for all the tables and
guests…"

Prettiest Cupcakes in the world!

Katja Cupcakes supplied these simply delicious and delectable looking cupcakes!

"I
was so lucky to find Katja, the minute I came across her website, I couldn’t believe that someone could make such beautiful cakes, with such
detail. We went to see her and she iced one right in front of us and it
was amazing – her style totally went with our theme all i had to do was
give her a idea of some of the flowers we were having and she did the
rest – the results were unbelievable and that was just how they looked –
they tasted even better! Plus the cupcakes were a real talking point as
all of our guest were as impressed as we were…"

Words of Wisdom?

"Gosh
that’s a tricky one. I think every bride needs a theme, once we had ours
(which was pretty much dictated by the venue) it was all down there
from then on! I also did a lot of research on wedding blogs and in
magazines cutting out ideas and making mood boards, In the end i had too
many ideas, i couldn’t use them all!

I also think that
organisation is key – some of our family took the micky out of me for
all my spreadsheets and timetables but on the day i was so pleased i had
done all the prep work because i could just sit back and let everything
fall into place and most importantly, i could enjoy the day without
getting stressed. It is stressful enough – getting married – without
having to worry if the florist is going to turn up on time and worrying
about the details."

"One of the other things i did was put a
lot of effort into my
invitations at the beginning. I used Laura Ashley wallpaper as a card
backer and then this wallpaper was used throughout the wedding, on the
table plan, place-names, signage etc. It also helped to give our guests a
little teaser to our theme right at the beginning.

I must admit
that all the details got quite stressful towards the end as there was a
lot to organise and think about, but in the end it was totally worth it.
It was such a pleasure for me to see everyone enjoying the day so much –
of course i knew everything that was coming because i had done all the
planning – but the guest were overwhelmed with how beautiful everything
was and really appreciated the little details had created for them."
