Hi Everyone,
I was browsing through Bridal and evening wear designer, David Fielden's website yesterday and admiring all the truly gorgeous wedding dress designs, then remembered that I had a real wedding of a Bride wearing a David Fielden number, and knew I had to share with you today 🙂
Claire & Gary tied the knot on 17th July 2010 at West Tower in Aughton. Claire's elegant column dress is a David Fielden design called ‘Wallis Simpson’, and was purchased at the White Closet in Didsbury…
"the owner Nikki is incredibly helpful & great fun – and I loved the vintage feel & the elegance of this dress, it felt amazing to wear!"
Many thanks to Lancashire and Cheshire Wedding Photographer Alex of Alex Davies Photography for allowing reproduction of these images on Love My Dress.

The couple's chosen wedding venue was West Tower in Aughton…
"Gary & I had initially been positive that we wanted to get married in Edinburgh (I'd lived there for over 10 years before moving down to Manchester & it's where Gary & I met whilst Gary & his comedy group – Slaughterhouse Live – were performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival). Having visited lots of venues in Edinburgh we popped along to see West Tower in Aughton, (not far from Manchester where Gary & I live) on a recommendation & a bit of a whim & immediately knew we'd found THE venue! Ridiculously welcoming staff & an amazing space with a great atmosphere."
I love how Claire has kept the look elegant and understated, with a pair of simple peep-toe shoes by Kurt Geiger…
Claire's Hair and Makeup Artist was Holly Lander…
Claire wore an beautiful Flo & Percy headband to complete her look…
"I love it so much that I wear it around the house occasionally! also wore a locket with a picture of my Mum & Dad in it – my Dad sadly died several years ago & so the locket was a little physical reminder that he would be there in spirit…"
Now I'm really loving these Bridesmaids dresses! Their beautiful blue colour draws attention but their elegant designs don't detract attention away from Claire's stunning wedding dress. The dresses were made by Suzanne at the White Closet in Didsbury…
What a beautiful floral display – I love the warm colours…
"We chose Hartley’s as our Florist – we picked the flowers before the bridesmaids dresses (a little back to front apparently!) & so not having a particular colour in mind to work with we decided to have every colour! Hartley’s were great – the only instruction we really gave them was that we’d like lots of bright cheerful flowers & Gary specified that he’d like some sunflowers dotted about. I was blown away when I saw the arrangements, they were way beyond anything I’d imagined."
"I walked down the aisle with my Mum to Billie Holiday singing 'The Very Thought of You'…"
Groom Gary wore a suit from Swarbricks in Manchester…
What a beautiful ring shot below…
"Both of our wedding rings came from Jenny Jones in Manchester. We both wanted a plain band but have now decided that we’re going to get them engraved with a personal symbol…"
"I like a vintage-y feel but I wouldn’t say that we went with any particular style for the wedding, it was probably a bit of a mish-mash of lots of influences. We just picked things we loved without too much thought to the overall aesthetic!"
"The Great Little Cupcake Company made our cake. I’d swithered about having lots of cupcakes but then saw the gorgeous retro wedding cake on Rainy’s website & there was no going back!"
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
"I know everyone says this but the day flys by so my advice to people getting married would be to try to look around on the day &take in whats going on around you! Having said that it's still a whirlwind – I don't think I finished a whole conversation all day!
Getting friends to help is a great idea – I think people feel more involved on the day if they've had some input in the run up & it also means you can delegate a bit. Gary & I made a point of involving our family & friends as much as possible, not just on the day but in the run up to the wedding too, this made the planning so much more fun & made it feel like our wedding lasted several months instead off several hours!
Many thanks again to Alex Davies Photography for this fabulous submission, any Lancashire or Cheshire Brides needing a Wedding Photographer should go look up Alex’s website…
"Alex is amazing! I saw Alex’s website & loved her photos – we did have some photographers recommended by friends but decided to go with our instincts and book Alex, and Gary and I are both so glad that we did. Alex was brilliant fun to work with & her photos are works of art."
