Time for a splash of colour to brighten up this day that just cannot decide if it wants to rain or shine! I have just the wedding for you – with an exceedingly glamorous and beautiful Bride with a beautiful style all of her very own ! 🙂
Mr and Mrs De Mello's wedding took place on 13 August this year at King's Lynn Town Hall, King's Lynn, Norfolk. Bride Ami's wonderful wedding gown was a Jenny Packham – the design is called 'Salange' …
"I fell in love with the Jenny Packham wedding dress when I saw the film Casino Royale, I then saw it in Harrods whilst killing some time waiting for a friend. It was red in the film and in Harrods and my husband said he'd like me to wear traditional colours. I was so happy when I found it in the Jenny Packham Boutique in Ivory. It's so slinky and felt so amazing to wear. A typical wedding dress really isn't my thing and I would have looked ridiculous but this one made me feel like a million dollars.
My friend Himani's advise was to get the dress I loved even though it was ridicolously expensive. It went against all my principles spending that much money (My Dad actually offered to pay when he realised how much I loved it) but it was absolutely worth it."
I super ADORE the details across the back of Ami's dress, and I'm rather in love with that wonderful Indian headpiece too! infact, the whole darn wedding is just beautiful! 🙂

"King's Lynn Town Hall was very reasonably priced – It's near where my mum lives and it was beautiful and old inside and out (almost like a castle). You could have the ceremony and reception there. It had 2-3 rooms to spread over.
"My shoes were from Faith – diamonte strappy sandal things with kitten heals. I saw a bridesmaid wearing them at a friends wedding and they looked lovely on her feet."
"I had an Indan Tikka instead of a tiara as I love Indian jewellery (bought from Green Street, Stratford) It also reminded me of the head piece worn in 'The Never Ending Story' which I loved when I was a kid!"
Flowers…
Flowers were by Emma Bird from Sutton Bridge…"I love Roses so I chose red and Ivory to go with the dresses. The purple Lithanthus linked in the younger Bridesmaids dresses. Eringiums are my favourite flowers so I had some hidden in my bouquet…"
Ami walked down the aisle to … "Nina Simone 'Feeling Good', but mixed into 'Feeling Good' by Muse half way through for a bit of added drama!"
Rings…
The couple's wedding rings were by Autumn and May of Greenwich. My ring is plain paladium band and my husbands is a two tone tungston carbide ring with a brushed strip around the centre…
Aido wore a black suit with texturised ivory waistcoat from Moss Bross. Ami had made Aido's red cravat herself! 🙂
Cake…
"Angela Lancaster from Dersingham created our cake. We chose mini cheesecakes displayed on a tiered clear perspex stand. They were decorated with mint leaves as far as I can remember. They were served for desert with strawberries and raspberry coulis…"
Decor…
"We chose red napkins and white table cloths to tie in with the venues colours and the dresses. We had chinese wooden bowls, red with gold subtle dragons on them for table displays. They were filled with black glass beads and a singular red tea light. A friend of ours made fantastic table name cards which looked like horror film posters (because it was Friday the 13th) starring our friends and family."
Entertainment
"We had a ceilidh band called beetroot and a ceilidh caller called Panda. We were so happy and impressed by all out friend and family as they went for it on the dance floor…."
Ami and Aido's took their first dance to The Gaslight Anthem 'Even Cowgirls get the Blues'…." I have no idea why it's called this but we love the song. It's by a new band we both got into and the rhythm and tempo fitted nicely with a waltz we knew…."
Words of Wedded Wisdom?
"GET THE DRESS YOU LOVE – DO NOT COMPROMISE!
Even though it was, at times, very stressful planning the wedding it was so much fun choosing all the things I love and enjoy and chucking them all together in one big day of fun with all our favourite people. Everything went so smoothly (except searching for the Bridesmaids special bra the night before- a mad two hour panic!) It felt like such an accomplishemnt to have organised it all, I was very proud."
"The ceromony felt so strange and I messed up my lines by saying 'I will' too soon! I was so tense and afterwards was overwhelmed by the feeling of wanting to go home and snuggle up on the sofa with my husband. During dinner I started to relax and enjoy it and after my speech I breathed a sigh of relief and had a fantastic time dancing. I spent all of my child hood dancing at ceilidhs but our wedding was the best one ever as we knew everyone on the dancefloor. I was worried in the lead up to the wedding that we'd made a mistake choosing a ceilidh for entertainment as few guests new what one was but I was so impressed with everyones enthusiasm and perseverance."
"I always thought weddings were overrated and people were missing the point by having big celebrations instead of small intimate do's. I also thought it was a bit pathetic when people said it was THE BEST day of their life. BUT I take it all back now as it was definitely one of the very best days of my life."
Awww…. love, love, LOVE! 🙂
