It’s time to welcome a new Sponsor into the Love My Dress family! 🙂 Say hello to Vicky Trainor, Artist and Stationer, who specialises in creating vintage inspired wedding stationery and who happened to be one of the very first brands I wrote about when I set up this here wedding blog almost a year ago now!

It’s been great to see Vicky’s brand go from strength to strength since back then, with her wonderful and very colourful collection of stationery that is bursting full with fabulous florals, gorgeous fonts, haberdashery detailing and all things pretty & vintage…

“I run a small creative design studio that specialises in anything that is stationery – from weddings to vintage tea parties. Not only do we produce a pretty little collection of printed floral stationery but we also dedicate a pocket of the studio that is for the client who wants something a little bit more personal, very vintage, and very ‘them’.

We are perfect if you are looking for a ‘statement collection’ – design that represents who you are, your loves, your personality; bringing together all of your ideas, interesting colour concepts, resulting in a collection that compliments the styling of your perfect day.  Most importantly we are a ‘small’ studio where everything is printed, hand cut, hand assembled, and packed with love.

“We like to think that the service you receive is warm and friendly and that you feel part of the team and very involved in the process of producing your collection.  We also have two blogs, one is a general ‘love and lust’ blog and the other which we call Studio Snippets is a daily diary of the happenings of our packing table in the studio so you can see what we get up to when we are hard at work, and sometimes, you may see something here that is not actually on our main web site.”

“We also have the Paper Store.  This is a little shop that stocks an assortment of products particularly if you are just requiring a few items such as place cards and table numbers.  As well as a Christmas shelf and greetings cards, there is also a ‘vintage drawer’ and ‘bottom drawer’ department where we stock pretty table linen (when available), vintage finds, and hand made items from the studio tables.”

Wedding Stationery Trends for 2011…

“At the moment we are having fun, working with clients on sampling for spring/summer 2011.  We love how everyone is starting to consider colour in much more interesting directions.  Whether it is gentle, warm tones of noisette and coffee with added flashes of turquoise or lime green or the total opposite using very strong raspberry coulis pinks with a spread of caramel or lamp grey.

Our new Miss Fondant Collection is proving popular and this is all about mixing vintage citrus brights with 1950’s candy colours…”

“…We also encourage clients to mix the collections, not just colours but the designs themselves; a Quintessential English Country Garden theme could be enhanced by a collaboration of the Rose, Peonie and Blossom Collections.

We have worked, this year, using this technique in a variety of different ways – and it is so exciting to see it all come together.  There has been a strong trend to move towards the eclectic with found vintage items, glassware and crockery so we have used this concept with the stationery.

Who’d have thought selecting your stationery could be so much fun and allow you to have so much freedom in expressing your ideas!!”

Top tips for Brides and Grooms looking for their perfect wedding day stationery…

“The main point to remember – all this planning should be enjoyable and an absolute delight to do – after all, it is about to take over your life, so there has to be plenty of fun along the way!

Together, write a collection of words that you think represents you, from music, books, film, colour, personal interests, what makes you smile, holidays, those ‘treasured little memories’….
Create a little box and fill it with magazine clippings, ribbons, vintage finds from hair clips to tea cups, found ephemera, paint swatches anything you find inspiring…
Then on a quiet evening (preferably with a chilled glass of Chablis) gather your finds and words together and place on a large piece of wall lining paper – anything that can be a blank canvas.
Then have fun – everything in front of you should start your ideas spinning…

All of the above will help any creative stationer to produce a personal collection just for you – and remember it is about ‘you’.  I love it when I have to sign for a parcel that is a ‘box of treasured delights’ or a‘totally mad mood board’ that has been sent through to start the creative process.
Most importantly form a good relationship with all of your suppliers.  You want to feel comfortable when discussing your ideas and feel as if you can ask for the finer little details and larger requests with confidence.”
