The Prettiest Vintage Details for a Lake District Wedding…

Good morning all! How does this find you on this fine Friday in November?

I'm sharing with you this morning a truly charming wedding that took place over in the beautiful Lake District.

Adele & Richard tied the knot on 1 May this year with a ceremony at St Begas Church on Bassenthwaite Lake and Reception and night at Armathwaite Hall.  I fell for this wedding because of all it's beautiful little vintage touches, that I hope appeal to you too, like this 'vintage table' below – what a pretty way of keeping all your wedding cards together on the day 🙂 And I do love a vintage suitcase…

"The vintage table I created was made from items I borrowed or from finds in a local antique shop…"

"I bought my Mikaella wedding dress from a lovely little wedding Boutique in Sheffield. They were so helpful and made what i found a difficult task, an easy one.

I chose the dress after quite a few unsuccessful shopping trips. I don't think I knew what i wanted. I knew I didn't want anything over the top or showy. Although I kept steering away from really feminine dresses, it was that which made me fall in love the with dress I chose. I love the little details on the dress, the elegant folds, the pretty flower on the hip and the buttons that run down the entirety of the back of the dress. Mostly, I felt like a lady when I wore it!"

"I struggled with shoes but found some about three days before the wedding day. They were Pink by Paradox. I bought them in the closest shop I could find that stocked them but found them on the web first…"

"I found a lovely vintage inspired headband, which I ummed and arrred about for ages, but it made my outfit and it was my favourite piece in the end. It was the Cooper Headband from the Gatsby Collection at Flo and Percy.  I wanted a natural, vintage country garden feel so the headband fitted perfectly with the antique style leaves…"

"The necklace and earrings where from Jo Thorne Jewellery. I found her through the internet. She makes jewellery specifically for brides and i just loved her use of mother of pearl and antiqued silver. They suited my outfit perfectly and complimented all of my other accessories. She was so helpful and even changed the design for me just days before the wedding day."

"My husband bought me a bracelet as a wedding gift and gave it to me on the morning, via my sister. It was gorgeous and set my dress off lovely. The clasp on it is so unusual, he put some real thought into it…"

A quick shot of the boys whilst the ladies get ready, looking smart in their TM Lewin suits…

"Richard bought a lovely suit from T M Lewin. We really wanted him to wear a waist coat most of the day as we hoped for sunshine so he bought a matching waistcoat….."

"We went for a local florist because we wanted flowers found typically in the lakes, eg, fern and heather etc. I wanted a country graden style of flowers with quite a broad range of colours. There was only one shop in Keswick, the nearest town, so our options were limited. But they did a lovely job. The theme was purple but my husband was wearing a yellow tie so we wanted yellow, purple, pinks and blues in the bouquets. My favourite flower was the pink Peonies. They were gorgeous and I think are now my favourite flower as they remind me of my wedding day…"

Adele's Bridesmaids dresses were from Coast

"My mum altered them a little as the top half of the dress was quite exposing. She inserted a little purple panel across the front of the bust. It wasn't easy to find a dress to suit both girls as both have completely different figures. So when we found these we were very happy."

"We got married in The Lakes because it is a special place for us.  We have been visitnig it for nine years, ever since we got together and return as often as we can. It feels like home. Rich also proposed to me by the lake nearby to our chosen venue. We thought we would have a look round the day after the proposal. We always knew we would get married in the Lakes and as we were there we thought it was a good idea to check out some spots. It all fell into place. The first church we came to was St Bega and we just fell in love straight away, it was so idilic. The venue of Armathwaite was perfect too, offering lovely views and able to accomotaed the small intimate wedding we had planned…"

Look at the Stars…

"We danced to Yellow, by Coldplay. I have a fascination with stars and am always admiring the stars, i often say 'look at the stars' and we both tend to break out into the lyrics of Yellow. because of this we have often spent a few late evening with the song blasting out of the speakers at home. The lyrics are so sincere. We even had dancing lessons to help us with our left feet. It was Richards idea as he is so nervous about dancing. The routine was by no means perfect but it went down well and the guests were cheering and clapping at different points.

We booked a band called Northern Monkeys, through The Alive Network. They were great. They did an acoustic set for us first, which was perfect as the weather kept all of our guests outside on the terrest for as long as we would let them. Then they played some of our favourites, like kings of leon and killers. By the end of the night the floor was bouncing."

"My wedding was a real rollercoaster. To start with things seemed so easy. We tried to keep the organisation of the day to a minimum for as long as possible but 6 months before we realised how much there was to do. I knew exactly what I wanted for the day so I found it difficult to dish out the duties and ended up doing most of it myself. It was a stressful time but although it is a clishey it was all worth it.

The day was magical and our friends are still talking about it. I have never been so exhausted and drained, ever! The day before I could have curled up in the bed and slept for 24hrs. But in the morning the adrenaline took over and it was amazing. I was so worried about being the center of attention, I hated the idea of everyone looking at me. But I shouldnt have worried. The two horrors of the day, the speeches and first dance ended up being the highlights. It wasnt till 11:30 that I realised I hadnt had anything to eat, thats how much fun the day was! Bring on the renewal of the vows… I think I will wait a fews years for that though!"
