Some time back now, I ran a feature on Australian Bridal wear designer, Johanna Johnson. Oh Johanna, how I love your drop-dead gorgeous old Hollywood glamour and art deco inspired bridal designs {psst… an insider tells me that Joanna would love to open a boutique in the UK – and you'll be the first to hear about that when it happens right on this wedding blog!}.
I heard from one of Joanna Johnson's colleagues a few weeks back, who was keen to tell me about the wedding of Domonique & Nick. Domonique had worn a breathtaking Johanna Johnson gown called 'Ophelia', and Joanna's colleague knew that it would appeal to my readers and I, so she put me in touch with the newlywed couple's photographer, the very talented Stephen Henry, who has very kindly supplied all these exquisite images.
Domonique and Nick tied the knot on 18 September this year, with a beautiful ceremony and reception at Koonyum Range Retreat at Byron Bay hinterland, Australia. Domonique told me about her gorgeous gown…
"There's something magical about Johanna's approach that I love. Its understated beauty and timelessness, complimented with intricate headpieces and jewellery to create a complete and unique look. In this way, I fell in love with the Ophelia dress; its soft, flowing silk, Parisian lace detail and enchanting matching veil.
I had the gown made in 'steel', rather than ivory, which better suited my skin tone and wore the Garland headpiece as a surprise after photos…"

Domonique's chic heels were by Alannah Hill…
Flowers on the Run provided the beautiful florals…
"We had all white flowers and a hint of green for simplicity and bursts of spring. My bouquet was made of white Arum lillies, which Nick and the groomsmen also wore, and white orchids were used in the centrepieces. We had a selection of other white flowers including tulips, freesias and white and green roses in milkbottles to decorate other parts of the venue…"
Domonique wore a very elegant pair of drop earrings, by Anna & Contessa of Tessarella House….
Domonique's Hair and Makeup Artist was Julie Corbet, who used a mix of Mac, Christian Dior and Lancome products…
The couple's chosen wedding venue at Koonyum Range Retreat boasts the most incredible views…
"We fell in love with the breathtaking view. Perched on the edge of paradise, it overlooks the ocean, valley below and Koonyum Range falls…"
Nick's suit was a bespoke design by Yaly Couture, of Hoi An, Vietnam.
"Nick had more tailors fussing over him and fittings than me! Without planning for it, he had his suit, shirt and shoes tailor made in Hoi An the year prior, after we stumbled across Yaly Couture and their fantastic range of Italian cashmere and wool."
Joanna walked down the aisle to 'Djarimirri' by Geoffery Gurrumul Yunupingu…
"I gave each of my bridesmaids an antique broach and drop earrings from Tessarella House as a small thank you. They each wore the broches in their hair for a hint of 'vintage glam'…'
Those gorgeous Bridesmaids dresses by the way are the 'Long flutter' design in the colour 'moss', by the fabulous Twobirds Bridesmaid. Twobirds featured on the Love My Dress Wedding Blog back in February…
Are these next three photographs scrumptious or what?!?
Possibly the most beautiful napkin holder I have ever seen!
"Our wedding was vintage inspired, which we carried through the decoration. The wishing well was my Grandfather’s suitcase from the 50s, decorated with crochets that my Nana made. We also had a photograph of our each of our parents and grandparents on their special day."
"We danced under the stars to 'Gold to Me' by Ben Harper. We couldn't write it better ourselves and are both big Ben Harper fans."
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
"Stay true to who you are and express yourselves as a couple.
If your planning the wedding yourself make sure you delegate someone else to be the contact person with your suppliers on the day. The last thing you want is to receive calls when you're getting ready!
We wanted the view to speak for itself and a vintage inspired wedding that was fresh, simple and intimate. We stuck to white and spring greens with accents of silver and decorations that were personally relevant."
Wow, talk about one good looking couple and an all-round beautiful day and what a breathtaking shot to end on.
Thank you so much Domonique for sharing your beautiful and elegant style with Love My Dress – I hope this feature fills the hearts of your "reli's" down in Southhampton and elsewhere – and by the way, we have 3 inches of snow here this morning, so bring your boots over to Blighty in a few weeks time!!!
Huge thanks too to Brisbane Photographer Stephen Henry for allowing us to reproduce his beautiful photographs.
