So how's everyone today then? I know many of my Wedding Industry colleagues are attending the Wedding Ideas Magazine Awards today (good luck everyone!) but for us not taking part in the fun and frolics, I've a little visual treat for you this afternoon 🙂
Suzie and Tom tied the knot on 4 September 2010 a wedding at The Electric Cinema in Birmingham – the UK's oldest working cinema. Tom actually owns the cinema and has spent the last few years restoring it {the couple actually lived on the top two floors of the building during a 2 year period of restoration}. I just love how the Art Deco style of the cinema lends itself so beautifully as back-drop to this couple's wedding day.
And as for Suzie? A Bride with bright red lipstick gets me EVERY time, but elbow length black gloves? Father head piece? Choker pearls and a vintage cocktail dress?
Swoooooooooooon!
"I wanted a vintage cocktail dress – I bought this new in Selfridges London. I was with two of my favourite girlfriends and I remeber them screaming when I put it on – so that was a good sign! I have always been in to vintage clothing and aspire to old-style glamour when I dress up.
With the venue being so magical – the two things just came together…"

This is a chic and stylish Bride if ever there was one…
These cute Bridesmaids wore embroidery anglais lace and cotton dresses from Marks & Spencers, shoes from Childrens Zara and a vintage pink pearl accessory from Not On The High Street….
I just love Suzie's feather headpiece, a design by Lily Lewis – how very chic!
"I asked Lily Lewis to design me a vintage styke hat to match the dress. She went one step further and used feathers from 1930's, vintage jet beads and vintage silk…"
Suzie borrowed a pearl and diamond choker necklace from her Mother and wore a pair of pearl drop earrings form her Husband to be…
The Florist, Julie Flowers, provided lilies, peacock and ostrich feathers…
"…the flowers were based on art deco flower deisgns of that period."
As Suzie walked down the cinematic aisle, the last full-time UK cinema organist, Steve Tovin, played the Wedding March on Tom's 1960s Hammond Organ…
"We had a special film poster made for the cinema, the cinema letters read 'Electric Wedding'. On the big screen we had a pre-wedding film which we shot on the day Tom proposed to me in Antigua…it's a spoof of him proposing and it did make everyone laugh lots! Then to end the wedding we had credits rolling naming everyone involved and a photo montage…
Tom wore a suit that was Tailor-made by an old friend Mark Purcell (Yusef Tailors), and a skinny, silk knit tie that was £3 from a vintage shop…
"Tom asked for his suit to be modelled on Johnny Cash's suit he wore in Folsom Prison for his infamous concert…"
Those are a pair of very high Marc Jacobs patent leather heels by the way! ..
The couple moved their wedding party to the Ikon Gallery for the reception..
"We had 1970s music through-out the reception to fit with the 1970s retrospective exhibition at IKON…"
The Electric Cinema Film Orchestra – Tom's in-house cinema band, did an hour-long set…
Words of Wedded Wisdom
"Don't overplan – go with the flow (even though this may sound like a total impossibility)…don't expect everything to go to plan, it won't, so try to roll with it on the day…"
Fabulous cinematic art deco style! LOVE it!

Wow, I love this wedding! It just looks so amazing. And really nice to see a wedding in lovely Brum, too. 🙂
FAB! I love how it is so 20th century focussed- with the cinema and the 70s reception. Unique and classy and above all it looked a blast!
WOW! Amazing, I love everything about this wedding. My dream venue was a cinema but we couldn’t find anything near us. I adore the brides outfit, the gloves are divine!

Oh Wow this is a fabulously stylish wedding! I love her black gloves!!!!!
I think that has to be one of the coolest weddings I have ever seen! I love the beautifully styled bride, the very smart (and love the suit btw) groom, and I only wish I could have been married in a cinema!
Thanks guys – this is a gorgeous and original wedding, and I love how Emily has captured it on camera – I love it. I simply have to visit The Electric Cinema next time I’m in Birmingham now! xXx

This is brilliant! Shows that a wedding can be as creative as your wildest dreams. Love it.

I love it when a wedding truly reflects the couple. They couldn’t have made this any more personal.
Ooh how fabulous!
There’s a cinema near me with a licence, I have everything crossed I’ll get to shoot a wedding there one day.
Such a nice place to organize wedding parties because they have perfect arrangement that make no. 1.
