A ‘Belle Epoch’ Edwardian Inspired Wedding…

Hi Everyone – I'm treating you to a little more wedding content than usual this Saturday.  No special reason. I'm just feeling in the mood 🙂

This is the wedding of Liam and Mandy which took place on 17 October 2010 at La Belle Epoque Brasserie, Knutsford, Cheshire, chosen because of the couple's love of arts and crafts.  The building has a tower named after the author Elizabeth Gaskell, and boasts a stunning art deco and art nouveau inspired interior.

I love this wedding – for me it captures the wonderful moments we all dream of having captured on camera on our wedding day – Liam's fabulous smile below, and the portrait shots towards the end are lovely. I also love the little vintage style touches, including Mandy's beautiful accessories.  I love that photograph below too. I am actually quite obsessed with old vintage wedding photographs. Liam explains the story behind this wonderful image…

"We are great admirers of antiques, art deco and the Victorian/Edwardian era, so we knew the clothes, the jewellery and the colours had to have been fashionable in this era.  An old photo of Mandy's Grandma getting married and photos of my Grandad (because he loved to dress immaculately) inspired us and set the scene really."

Mandy's dress was a Justin Alexander design, purchased from Rosina Brown Bridal boutiqut in Stocksfield, Northumbria, chosen for 'the simplicity of the cut and the rustle of the raw silk'.

I love this pretty lace shrug below too, so lovely…

Mandy's beautiful hair accessory was a bespoke hair brooch made from my her Grandma's old jewellery and some vintage lace. How utterly gorgeous is this?

The Bridesmaids wore Satin Teal dresses from a bridal shop in Newcastle, hairbands from Monsoon and sported pretty art-deco style accessories, also from Monsoon.

"Teal is a gorgeous colour we chose together, and it was funny to see this fashionable in the high street shops leading up to the wedding…"

"We had a violinist to welcome our guests (an old fashioned folk playing busker from oxfordshire).  We tried to keep it really comfortable because we knew we would be feeding and entertaining nearly 100 guests.  La Belle Epoque, although not a very large place, provided the exquisite atmosphere which gave the wedding a low key and private feel.

It was a beautiful day and we did manage to sneak off and have a moment where we could look at everyone and soak it in."

Liam wore the 'Sartorial' suit, by Timothy Everest.  The Groom and his Groomsmen all sore freesia flowers in their breast pockets, because the Groom's Grandad loved this flower…

The couple danced to Curtis Mayfield 'Love Me, Love Me Now'.  Liam says…

"It reminds us of when we first met, I played it to her on her first night at my home!"

I think we have a pair of true romantics on our hands here!

Words of Wedded Wisdom….

"Keep writing your lists (over and over again)  Always keep your old lists just in case, and remember to strike through accomplishments.  Try to enjoy the preps together, because it can get a little stressful!  Use family help when and where you can, don't be afraid to voice your concerns."
