Time to welcome another sponsor to the Love My Dress Wedding Blog. This time, St Albans and Hertfordshire Wedding and Lifestyle Photographer Tori Deslauriers joins us, and I’m going to hand right over to the lovely Tori to introduce herself…
“I’m Tori, of Tori Deslauriers Photography, wedding and lifestyle photographer. I’m located in St Albans in Hertfordshire but this year have weddings booked all over the UK and have just taken my first bookings for overseas weddings, which is a new adventure for 2011!
I’ve always loved photography and spent a lot of time doing ‘people’ photography – events and lifestyle work like family shoots, but felt so nervous about the jump into weddings. At our wedding a number of years ago, I spent half the day paying attention to him and half the day (or more?!) paying attention to our photographer and after that my brand new Husband said ‘enough is enough!, you’re ready, go make this happen!’ So I took the plunge and have never looked back – I love it!”

What do you love most about wedding photography?
“I love everything about it. Weddings are just such a fabulous day anyway and I thrive off the happiness of the couple and seeing how the months of planning has come together in one perfect day.
I think it’s really irrelevant of budget and venue too, a couple’s personality and style really shines through and I love having the chance to be part of that. I always feel honoured when there are so many great photographers out there that a couple has picked me!”
Can you describe your signature style?
“A lot of couples I meet with ask me about words like ‘reportage’ and ‘traditional’ and ‘photojournalism’ etc. I don’t really like to pigeonhole myself because I’m not sure that many wedding days’ can fit neatly into any category as most people want a bit of everything – some fly on the wall, some group shots, some couple shots.
But most importantly, I like to make sure I cover a couple’s day their way. I obviously make sure to capture all the details, love it if the couple are up for formal shots with a bit of a twist and generally a bit of fun in front of the camera, get some fun shots that capture personality and the happiness that was there and some great couple shots. But generally my style is flexible…”
Can you provide a price guide?
“I have a simple pricing structure only offering one package to keep things nice and easy. All couples are offered a complimentary pre-wedding shoot to get them nice and relaxed in front of the camera before the big day and so we can get to know each other better.
Then a full day’s photography on the day and a bespoke Queensberry album round you off. My prices can be found on my website under the pricing tab.”
If you weren’t a wedding photographer, what would you be?
“Hmmm… do you know, I have no idea. I really wanted to be a property developer or interior designer but it’s taken me and my Husband 18 months to decorate two rooms in our new house so I don’t think I’d be very good at it! I love what I do, can I please keep my job?!”
