An Art Deco, 1920’s Inspired London Winter Wedding…

If there is one thing I adore, it is a Bride who favours the 'vintage style' wedding. I think that's fairly obvious by now, don't you? 🙂 So when I receive submissions like the one I did from London and Kent Wedding Photographer Eliza Claire a few weeks back, I actually do end up feeling mildly faint with excitement.  I kid you not.

Just look at Bride Sophie below, doesn't she look the epitome of old fashioned Hollywood, red carpet glamour with that fabulous marcel wave in her hair and her gorgeous designer dress?

Sophie married her Beau Kieren on 18 December 2010 at Our Lady of The Assumption in Bethnal Green, followed with a reception at The Empress of India.

I love how Sophie wore an incredible Sesay Bridal wedding dress, teamed with a pair of leggings from Primark to keep the winter cold at bay 😉

"I saw a glimpse of the dress in a magazine and knew it was the one. Christina who made my dress was wonderful

I also wore leggings from Primark 😉 I knew it would be cold! Though I wasn't counting on the snow. The shrug was from The Faux Fur Company..."

I love the photograph below and how it captures a beautiful, radiant and excited looking Sophie on the morning of her wedding day.

The quite stunning headpiece below was by Love My Dress favourite, headwear designer Yulia Kunze

"The inspiration for the underlying style on our wedding day was my engagement ring – an antique from the Art deco period. The dress and hair style grew out of this and lent its self to a lot of small touches including my hair clips and brooches."

Rebel Flowers provided the lovely florals…

"I loved anemones and they are the perfect winter flower. The flowers determined the colour of the bridesmaid dresses too. I had no desire for red roses and felt that winter flowers were so limited.

Athena from rebel Rebel Flowers knew exactly what I wanted; the flowers on the table were beautiful without imposing. We wanted our guests to be able to see each other and talk over dinner…"

"We looked everywhere for the dresses for the girls, and it was made that much more difficult having my sister living in Australia. It was much harder than finding a wedding dress!

Eventually, my mum suggested the dress maker who made my sisters wedding dress and who went to art college with my Dad. He did a great job…

The girl's shrugs were the same as mine and the broaches I bought from EBay…"

"Kierans suit was borrowed from a friend. Before they met he {the friend}, used a portrait of Vladimir Myakovsky taken by Alexander Rodchenko as inspiration to have a suit made by Geives and Hawkes of Saville Row. Kieran, unknolwingly, had the same point of inspiration and when it came to light what the friend had done he allowed kieran to borrow the suit. Luckily they were the same size and it fit perfectly.

The button holes were hand made by the bride, bridesmaid and friends to reflect the bouquets {cut and sewn felt}…"

"We had a routmaster booked but it couldnt make it due to the snow. A few friends and family had to walk through Victoria Park to get to the reception venue – it was like a fairytale accordiong to some…"

The couple happen to live just around the corner from the reception venue…

"The reception venue, The Empress of India, in Victoria park village, is a functioning restaurant. We had exclusive use of it for our wedding and their staff prepared everything.

The Empress of India has fantastic food and the staff are always super helpful; exactly what we wanted!"

"We took on a lot of the making of items of decoration including invitations {screen printed at home}.  We made table numbers and place settings with baubals. We wanted to acknowledge it was nearly Christmas without it being too much! So we bought Christmas decorations to match our colour scheme.

We had a craft day at home with the Mums, Kierans sister (my bridesmaid) and my best friendto make the jam jar tea lights, the place settings and the felt button holes…"
