A 1940s Inspired Engagement Shoot….

It's all about good old fashioned love today.  No photoshoots full of props or professional styling, just a couple, and the love they have for one another, like Warren and Kat here 🙂

Warren and Kat are getting married this September in the Ye Olde Bell coaching inn, in Hurley, Berkshire and they are having a 1940’s/50’s themed wedding. They wanted to get a set of image that would help set the theme that they could then use for save the date cards. The end result was to be a simple polaroid style shot (see end of feature) that could be sent out to all their guests.

Jordan Banks of Source Images Photography tells us more…

"Finding a location that fitted the bill for his type of shoot is never as easy as you think and as time was short (we only had 45 minutes with Warren and Kat to shoot) it was decided we needed everything to be in one location. We had a little think about it and suggested the old Brewery in Marlow, Bucks as it has the cobbled streets and the perfect back drop for this type of shoot.

We had discussed with Kat and Warren that it was important to get into idea and dress appropriately to fit the times. It is very hard to make an image look old and vintage if the couple are wearing modern clothes and trainers as this just wasn’t how people dressed back then. In the past we have had couples turn up to similar shoots really unprepared but not Kat and Warren. We needn’t have worried. Kat had managed to squeeze in time to get her hair done and in keeping with the theme of the shoot…"

"The simple black dress with pearls and the detail of the bright red shoes worked perfectly. The same went for warren a simple fitted shirt waistcoat and black tie meant they looked just perfect together. It took a couple of frames for them to get fully into character but when they did there was no stopping them. They knew what they wanted and they interacted so comfortably with each other it was a joy to shoot.

Other than setting the background we hardly had to direct them, they did all themselves and I think the images really capture the personality and chemistry between the two of them. It was great to shoot and we still have the invite shoot and the wedding to go."
