Hi Everyone 🙂  I’ve such a super sweet and cute wedding to share with you this morning, with the most delightful of vintage inspired wedding dresses by short and tea length wedding dress specialist, Tobi Hannah 🙂

Emma and Roy married on 19 February 2011, the same weekend as I was attending The Designer Vintage Bridal Show. And I know this because, my fellow show exhibitor, Photographer Emma Case, nipped out to take these fabulous photographs during the show!

The wedding itself took place at Solihull register office, and was followed by a vintage tea party reception at the Hare and Hounds, Kings Heath, Birmingham.

The beautiful 1950’s style wedding dress was a real find, thanks to Clare Guest from The Wedding Club who found Emma’s dress by Tobi Hannah and then customised it to exactly the way Emma wanted it, utilising the skills of Teresa Edmonds at Chalk White. I just love the collar and button detail…

“I just love 50’s style dresses, they are so flattering and make you feel so glam!

I’m not the tallest of people and therefore avoided the traditional long wedding dress!  I hadn’t bought any wedding magazines or visited any other bridal shops, so after speaking to Clare at The Wedding Club and informing her of what I wanted,  she then called me a few weeks later to say she had found a dress.

When I went to see the dress for the first time, it certainly ticked all the boxes; it had the beautiful 50’s look, it was by a new young designer and it could be customised to the way I wanted it, so that’s how i found my perfect dress…amazing!!

My wedding veil was also from The Wedding Club and it was by Joyce Jackson….”

Roys amazing he really is my best friend I always feel comfortable around him and he treats me like a lady!!”

“My shoes were by Rachel Simpson shoes with Laurel Lime shoe accessories also from the wedding club.  They were the most comfortable shoes ever and I don’t normally wear heels but they had the 50’s look that went with the dress and the most amazing detail!”

“My hair was by Phil Gifford at Parlour Hair in Birmingham – amazing salon and love the fact i get my hair cut at a vintage dressing table…simply amazing!!

My make up was by Lesley Fox O’Reilly who again was just so amazing she knew exactly what i wanted which was the 50’s look to go with the dress she was a perfectionist and would recommend her to anybody!”

Emma’s wedding bouquet was from ‘Little A’ in kings heath, Birmingham – I love their spring prettiness…

“I love this place-its amazing, again its local, has the most amazing flowers and attention to detail.  I always by the vintage roses for mothers day etc and knew that’s exactly what I wanted, she aslo used them to decorate the venue with a piece for the fireplace and flowers in teapots!”

“I wore a Laurel Lime Hairband – which again was a brand introduced to meby Clare at the wedding club in Edgbaston, I love the fact she is a local designer and the fact it is a one off vintage piece.

I also had a locket and pearl earings from Patrick Bristow at Mokume in the Jewellery Quarter who also helped my husband design my pearl engagement ring, which made us want him to design and make our wedding rings.”

  1. What a lovely set of photos, like you say short and sweet! Sweet was exactly what I thought when I saw them, they definitely have the romance factor! 🙂

  2. Lovely 50s dress. I’m intrigued by the pearl engagement ring-i’d love to see it, it sounds so unusual. Love the proposal record idea too-really thoughtfully romantic!

  3. Finally a bride with short hair!!! I was beginning to think it was just me that didn’t have Rapunzel tresses! Gorgeous dress as well. Xxx
