An Art Deco Cinema Inspired ‘Rock The Dress’ Photoshoot…

I've been meaning to publish these images for a short while now – infact, I had every intention of posting them up last Friday, but then found out about the Bloggers Day of Silence for Japan at the very last minute.  So without further ado, I shall get right on and share the glamour!

The rather beautiful lady in these photographs is Elizabeth from the new UK wedding blog, Bridal Musings. And rather lovely she is too.

Elizabeth told me more about this, her 'Rock the Dress' photoshoot {you know, an opportunity to dress up all over again in your wedding dress and go work it for the camera AFTER your wedding day?}. Sounds fun doesn't it? And Elizabeth most certainly knows how to work some magic in front of the lens in her beautiful lace Sassi Holford Wedding Dress!…

"I love all the glamour of bygone eras, especially the 30s through to the 60s. I admire how ladylike and perfectly groomed the women were and I adore a pillar box red lipstick and nail polish! Soon after I got engaged I discovered Love My Dress and found endless inspiration for our wedding so I'm absolutely thrilled to be featured on this wonderful blog!

I jumped at the chance to wear my beautiful, bespoke Sassi Holford wedding dress again and knew without a doubt that my Rock The Dress shoot had to include vintage elements. I also knew that I wanted Shaneen to shoot it as she was really lovely during my boudoir session and managed to make me feel so comfortable and at ease.

I have always loved the grandeur of old Art Deco cinemas and when I mentioned this to Shaneen, she suggested the perfect place for our shoot: The Art Deco Rex Cinema {opened in 1938} and the adjacent Gatsby's bar in Berkhamstead…"

"We started the shoot in Gatsby's Bar, which is such a stunning, glossy, black and white bar with a huge vintage print depicting the film poster for ‘The Great Gatsby’ on the wall. Luckily the bar wasn't very busy so I didn't feel too embarrassed prancing about and posing in my dress!

Shaneen had contacted Kirstie at Flo and Percy, who lent us one of her stunning vintage inspired headpieces. She had picked it out especially to go with my lace dress and it was perfect. I felt like a glamorous 50s film star wearing it!"

"After shooting at Gatsby’s, Shaneen and I walked round the corner to The Rex cinema and were greeted by a very long queue of people waiting outside. As you can imagine, I received a lot of funny looks!"

"Chesca {whom I met at my Sassi Holford dress fittings} & her sister, Becca of the bridal accessories company Dolecka, also lent us one of their elegant 'Frida' fabric flower headbands. It’s such a beautiful big statement piece-I loved wearing it!"

"Finally, we went for something a bit more outdoorsy and natural, as a contrast, and headed out to Berkhamstead castle ruins. There was no chance of keeping my dress pristine in the muddy field so I jut went for it and it was so much fun frolicking about in my wellies! We got absolutely battered by the wind and the rain, my hair ended up looking rather bedraggled and I was absolutely frozen by the end of the shoot but it felt so exhilarating!

It was such a pleasure to do another shoot with Shaneen and I am delighted with the photos! Now, I just need to find another excuse to wear my wedding dress…"

Beeeeeeeautiful! And encouraging, I hope, to other Brides considering doing something similar. All the elements were against Elizabeth on the day of shooting (wind, rain) and yet look how gorgeous and glamorous she looks!Thank you so much Elizabeth for sharing your fab Rock the Dress photographs with Love My Dress -  thanks too to Bedfordshire Wedding Photographer Shaneen, from Rosewarne Cox.

I'd like to formally welcome Elizabeth to the blogging community – you must go visit Elizabeth's Blog 'Bridal Musings' for some wedding day prettiness 🙂

Also see more Sassi Holford on Love My Dress here – including an interview with the designer.

So tell me, are you planning any kind of pre or post wedding photoshoots?

Have a lovely mid-week morning all 🙂

Much love,

Annabel xXx
