A Black Tie, Art Deco Inspired Wedding at St Pancras Station…

Well helleeewwww my lovelies! How does this Monday morning post find you? What have you been up to? Let's share our weekend stories in the comments below, I absolutely love to hear from you and what you've been up to  🙂 Did you see my first little soiree into video blogging? 🙂

Me? I had the most wonderful weekend, but I'll be telling you some more about that in this afternoon's post.  For now, I'd like to share with you the blooming gorgeous nuptials of Chelsie and Gary – a vintage inspired celebration that took place at St Pancras Station in London.  This was the first ever wedding to take place at St Pancras, and the venue has particular significance for Chelsie and Gary as they met there for their first date!  The  ceremony took place by the statue of John Betjeman, and the reception was at the Champagne Bar with a pink champagne fountain!  Dinner was served afterwards at the new restaurant.

The dress being worn so very beautiful by Chelsie is 'Joy' by Jenny Packham

"When we decided to get married I knew immediately that a traditional white wedding was not for me, nor was the traditional white wedding dress.  I obsessed for a while over a Vionnet dress from 1938, unfortunately while exhausting myself in a search for the right silk or vintage fringing to make a replica, I began to realise that the only way I would get to wear a dress like this was by donning a balaclava and visiting the Met Museum in New York late at night, where the dress is displayed, and risking an arrest for dress theft ahead of our ‘big day’.

I managed to put the Vionnet dress out of my mind and soldiered on with a more typical dress hunt. Visiting countless vintage wedding dress places in and around London was fun and was the perfect opportunity to have afternoon tea with various girl friends. I had however started to realise that I was in search of something quite specific, I wanted a 20’s/30’s style evening dress, with some sparkle, to wear to the wedding we had started to arrange at the Champagne & Oyster Bar/Restaurant in St. Pancras Train Station, where we had got engaged…"

"I had seen a dress by Jenny Packham online that had ‘potential’, so with the further encouragement from a close friend to go try it on, I found myself sat with a rack of beaded dresses sparkling at me. I immediately knew I was in the right place but not expecting to find anything I had gone alone, saving my friends and family the effort. I tried on a lot of Packham’s beautiful dresses but knew that the ‘Joy’ dress, that had first attracted my attention, was for me. I loved the simple cut and that it was platinum rather than white or cream. Swooning over the deco style beading I got my mum’s approval over the phone and went ahead and ordered the dress there and then…"

"With my dress finally sorted in the nick of time, I moved on to accessories. I found a 1920’s coney fur cape in a vintage shop in Camden, once cleaned it looked great and without it I would have frozen as our November wedding day was bitterly cold. My shoes were handmade by Emmy, they were light grey with nude gold detailing to compliment my dress. They were a treat from my parents along with my headdress and cuff, both of which were by Jenny Packham…"

"I am blessed to have friends that are makeup artists and hair stylists who wanted to help on the day. Lucy’s makeup kit and knowledge is second-to-none and Mim has a real talent for achieving vintage inspired hair-styles (although I actually wear mine very similar to this on a daily basis)…"

"My underwear (a backless body) was by Ender Legard and despite the expense was a great find, it was comfortable, fitted me excellently and was much more attractive than the other nude-coloured bodies available. I then found a fabulous designers, Royst & Aran, who made garters with vintage details and treated Gary to one of those!  Eventually, I had my ‘old’, ‘new’ and my ‘borrowed’ sorted, and then came across a 20’s style navy blue velvet pouch purse from ASOS to complete my outfit…"

"We were the first people to be married in St Pancras Station, a venue we felt that captured the romanticism from a forgotten era. Not only providing a unique, cathedral-like backdrop for our wedding, the anticipation of travel hung in the air throughout the ceremony – although the journey we were embarking on was that that of marriage rather than a naughty weekend in Paris or Brussels!

Our friends graced the day with spectacular black tie attire, the champagne flowed, the swing band played and it was more fabulous than we’d thought possible!"

So, so glamorous and gorgeous, a perfect Love My Dress wedding!

These photographs were taken by London Wedding Photographer, Robert Lawler, who told me…

"I wanted to capture the magnificent architecture of the station, as well as all the wonderful details of Chelsie's  fabulous outfit and all the romance and style of the day.

Chelsie and Gary's family and guests were equally stylish in their vintage inspired ensembles. I like my photographs to be  natural and unobtrusive with a fashion feel, rather than wedding photographs per se – my aim is always to catch real moments that show the elegance and glamour of a wedding, the beauty of the bride, and the excitement of the day".

I think you did the most beautiful job Robert 🙂

I'd love to have your thoughts on this beautiful wedding – share them below and tell me where you're up to with your own wedding planning.  Are you a Jenny Packham bride?

Lots of Monday Love 🙂
