Brighton Rock ~ A 60’s Chic Engagement Shoot…

Good morning!!! i have been preapring this post in the dark, in the middle of New York City!!! Having realised the only way I'm going to be able to use WIFI over here, is when everyone else isn't, I set my alarm for 2am NYC time to get up and try to upload this post on what bit of a connection I can get, and hey presto, it worked! Which is a good thing because I've been so keen to share this brilliantly British seaside photographs with you since I received them from Photographer Celine Chaplin last week 🙂

Celine told me more about this wonderful vintage inspired engagement shoot with a 1960's vibe……

"I shot this engagement shoot with the very cool couple Laura and Patrick. I wanted to create a gorgeous vintage looking shoot after seeing the film Brighton Rock and I was totally inspired by the style and film noir-esque look of photography and thought that it would be great to pay homage to it.

The film is set in the 60s and I thought that it would be fab to shoot it in that style and so decided that I'd love to meet a couple who were passionate about the 60s and who might possibly be mods.

I contacted Naomi from Vintage Secret as she is the woman in the know on all things vintage and asked her if she knew anyone who fit the bill. And so she put me in contact with her cousin Laura and her fiance Patrick. They were the perfect match, and not only that; Laura was even an extra in the actual film itself. How's that for a coincidence!

"When I told them about my idea they were totally up for it and we shared ideas and talked about clothes and props. It was so much fun to create a styled shoot with some lovely people who are so passionate about that era and genuinely live it for real. Even their pad is a truly 60s affair, I wanted to steal all their furniture ;)"

"I have to thank Naomi of  Vintage Secret sooo much as she not only put me in contact with Laura and Patrick, but she helped style the shoot and created Laura's amazing beehive and gorgeous make up. She is truly talented. Not only that she kept us all entertained through the day and we had the most fun…

We shot all around Brighton, including the pier, Madeira Drive and all the way to Hove stopping off half way through the day in the restaurant featured in the indoor shots, which I must thank for letting us shoot in on a saturday, their busiest day. If you're ever in Hove; Marocco's restaurant and ice cream parlour do the best italian pasta and home made ice cream. It was fab 🙂

All in all, we had such a great day photographing in Brighton, Laura and Patrick were fabulously good sports and agreed to take part in my crazy idea and I think we were pretty successful in getting some amazing shots of them together…"
