Quirky, British, Cool ~ A Celebration of Red White and Royal Blue…

Everyone's gone Royal Wedding keeerrrrrazy this week!  And what the heck, I thought I'd treat you to a little extra feature today, of the red white and blue variety, to keep up the 'Royal' spirits! (TWO DAYS TO GO!!!). My God, I can't imagine how soon to be wife of the future King is feeling right now!

I love this cheeky photoshoot submitted by Northampton Wedding Photographer, Sarah Vivienne….

"I like to plan a few creative days into my diary to give me a chance to try out new ideas and techniques which once tested and proven, I can then offer to my clients. It's also an opportunity to unleash some fun and frivolous ideas to get the creativity flowing and keep my work fresh and exciting.

I'd recently been on a Lovegrove speedlight workshop for Professional Photographers, to learn some new flash lighting techniques and so this particular shoot was timed to fit with that, to give me a chance to try out the skills learned on my own. But I wanted to bring some styling and extra creativity to the shoot and being unashamedly excited about the Royal Wedding decided to go with a red/white/blue theme to mark the occasion.

I wanted an elegant look overall with a hint of fun and quirkiness, and a whole lot of Britishness…"

Check out that gorgeous 'Darcey' bow dress by Ellis Bridals below, and I LOVE the hairstyles going on!! I'm so wearing Union Jacks in my hair on Friday, oh yes :))

"I thought a mix of designer (see credits at end) outfits would work well, as I strongly believe that it's all about the photographer seeing the best in something and knowing how to bring that out, rather than having to spend lots of money to look good.

Toni, from Toni Creative, worked her usual magic with hair and make-up. I asked her to create a contemporary twist on vintage and to make it bold, and make it British. I had no idea what I would describe as a British hairstyle at this point but Toni is so on my wavelength and instinctively knew what I meant! I'm just in love with both styles, which are totally different.

I used three different locations to practice using flash in different ways. Some shots were taken at home (if you could have seen the mess afterwards, oh my!). Others were taken on the street in a typically British country village called Castle Ashby, in Northamptonshire. And some were at a National Trust location, Stowe Gardens, which is HUGE and has many temples and memorials…"
