Vintage Vespa and Colourful Cupcakes ~ 1950’s Inspired Bridal Glamour…

I think it generally goes without saying that I adore era inspiration on Love My Dress, and in particular, I adore the styles of the 1950's, which, it would seem, so do a team of talented creatives who got together recently to produce this delightful photoshoot.

The team behind this photoshoot was brought together by Laura of Laura Coleman Flowers to showcase the creative people in the Manchester area who are not only professional in what they do, but incredibly fun to work with, and the images you see here were captured on camera by Manchester Wedding Photographer, Katy Lunsford – a Love My Dress favourite.

Laura Coleman tells us more…

"By looking at one specific era, the 1950's, it was really important to show that a bride can work this look in many different ways.  Whether it be an elegant and classic Audrey Hepburn feel, a love of the 1950's lindy hop vibe, a fan of a fabulous tea party or wanting to rock it up with red lips and a pout only suitable for Mr President himself, the quality of the work that this passionate team created speaks for itself.

Vintage take works on so many levels.  We chose four looks styled around four of Charlotte Balbiers stunning gowns.  Location was key and we chose the home of the Sweet Tooth Cupcakery to base the shoot.  A short walk on location with Katy took us to some of the quirkiest and prettiest backdrops in Manchester…"

Crikey, how much do I LOVE this photoshoot?! 🙂

Such a simply but effective idea to decorate the handle of a parasol with flowers! I love it 🙂

The flowers featured across the shoot include anenomes, limonium, sunflowers, stocks, vanda orchids, anthurium, roses, waxflower, dianthus, freesia, veronica, eucalyptus, blossom and pittosporum.  Set with velvet, satin, polka dot and checked ribbons.  The teapots, vases, teacups, bunting and linens were also provided by Laura Coleman Flowers

"Flowers were chosen to be seasonal and to complement the four looks that we were going for.  From fun country styling, to elegant statement pomanders and quirky ideas such as parasols decorated with flowers, each idea was created to ensure that all looks were right for the era whilst demonstrating that with clever ideas, vintage can be applied in so many different ways…"

"Make up and hair was changed for each look and the tip of the day is that 'Once you've bought a MAC lipstick, there's no going back!'

Cupcakes were crafted specifically for the shoot showing the incredible variety that is available to brides looking for something a little bit different.  Bouquet charms were designed from fabrics and ribbons used in the floral designs and the Vespa provided a great opportunity to show that brides really can make things incredibly personal to them on their day.  Even exiting their big day on an alternative form of transport!"
