1930s Vintage Lace Wedding Dress & Vibrant Colours for an Islington Town Hall Wedding…

There are wedding photographs, and then there are wedding photographs – images that tell such a beautiful story of a couple so obviously in love.  The image of their tender embrace, the photo where he is tenderly clutching her hand, the way they smile into each others eyes… seeing these kind of images makes me feel so genuinely happy.   Images like the ones on this page that is, make my heart really sing and think, I love being a Wedding Blogger 🙂

Kyle and Annie tied the knot on 9 April this year at Islington Town Hall, then Conway Hall in Holborn, London – a 1920's property, owned by the South Place Ethical Society.  The couple have been together nearly nine years and finally decided to tie the knot last February, whilst watching the sunrise over the Taj Mahal in India…"We spent seven months last year travelling through India and South East Asia and wanted to use some of the vibrant colours and styles we saw on our travels in our wedding…"

Not only do these photographs radiate pure love between this lovely couple, I just love love love Annie's 1930's vintage lace wedding dress from Mishka Vintage Clothing in Crouch End, London.

"It needed quite a bit of restoration and care. This was carried out by the fantastic seamstress Joelle Nobis and my sister, Kate.

I stumbled across it with my sister and mum when she was visiting from Norfolk. My mum picked it out and I fell in love with it. I liked the fact that it was simple but unusual and as it was vintage it was one of a kind. It is probably 80 years old and was once worn by another woman from another age. I'd love to know who she was and how she wore it! So much work went into restoring it and its something I'll cherish forever…"

"We chose ranunculus, gerberas and roses in bright pinks, saffrons and reds. We really wanted a vibrant and wild feel to the flowers. I arranged them into old jam jars together with my sister and mum in the garden the day before! Also made my own bouquet…"

"We made tissue paper flower pom poms to create brightly coloured garlands inspired by our three months in India last year. We sourced saffron and pink material from a local Indian shop which we used as runners down the tables.  Victorian tealights bought from ebay and cheap glass tealights from Ikea and handpainted gold and blue. My mum and dad sourced beautiful large Indian paper flowers which we put in jugs around the hall. My sister made handpainted bunting using newspaper and we bought cotton string lights to decorate the stage, doorway and bar. .."

The couple danced to 'Baby, I love You' by The Ramones and were entertained by The Time and Mercy Band…

"The brilliant Time and Mercy Band who play Bluegrass and American Folk Music entertained our guests in the evening. They were perfect for the vibe of our wedding and so many guests commented on how great they were!"

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

"Accept the talents of your friends and family when they are offered! We were very lucky to have so many creative friends and family members to help us. Be confident to do things yourself – we handmade our own save the dates, invites, flowers and decorations. Although it was a lot of work it was great fun to do and was budget friendly…"
