Blue by Enzoani and a Birdcage Veil ~ A Cute and Colourful Wedding…

Good morning!  Better late than never with this morning's blog post.  And boy have I learned a HUGE lesson this morning. Never ever ever again will I just sit there like happily blogging away thinking 'it will be alriiiiight for just another minute, surely!' when my Macbook Pro has told me to 'PLUG IN NOW, BATTERY LOW!'. It is such a ghastly feeling to have lost 2 hours of work!

So, moving on to brighter things! :)   This morning's wedding is a celebration of colour and cuteness 🙂 Jessica & David got married on 1 May 2011 at Calvary Church in Kingswinford, followed by a reception at New Hall Hotel and Spa, chosen, Jessica tells me, because the couple wanted a venue with some wow factor that could accommodate their quirky wedding theme.

I love Jessica's birdcage veil and was especially thrilled to find out that she was inspired to wear such a veil having seen them featured on Love My Dress}.  I also love her dress, the pretty bow detail and all that glorious tulle.  This gown is from the Blue by Enzoani collection…

"I saw this dress in a magazine when I first got engaged. I loved it the minute I saw it. I was determined to have a unique dress that stood out. I did not want top-to-toe satin and loved the bow at the top and layers of tulle that had crystals in each layer so they subtley sparkled through. I tried on loads of dresses but this was the one that suited everyting about me.

I was adamant a veil would not feature in my attire until I discovered bird cage veils via the Vintage Headdresses website. They were elegant and wonderfully unique and I went on a long journey to find the perfect one for me. I had developed an idea of what I wanted in my mind and somehow I found it.

Who said 80's wasn't vintage? 😉

"I just love colour and personalising things – I wanted the decor, colours, cakes and favours to reflect our fun and bright personalities. I knew from the moment we started planning the wedding we had to make it our own, and people commented on how much it reflected us. Our day was personalised to the max. The table names were 80's films which are Dave's favourites. The colour scheme was a mix of purple, red and yellow which I knew would be amazing and would set off the bridesmaids dresses. My outfit had a retro vintage feel but was elegant and different…"

I love the table decor/favour ideas – and how the heart matches the heart on the cupcakes and Jessica's shoes! So cute…

"A bold red heart theme ran through the wedding so I searched for red heart bowls and had sweet favours. I bought the red heart bowls from ZAks supplied by Amazon and I bought the sweets from the National wedding fayre. There were classic sweets such as refresher chews, lollipops etc and also Just married love hearts…"

"Our first dance was by The Dum Dums and is called 'Army of Two.' The lyrcis include "When the world is against you, I will protect you, darling we'll be an army of two." The chorus is full of life and not soppy so it set the mood nicely and reflected us well…"

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

"Don't be afraid to delegate. You can take far too much on and you can't carry the strain. Include your family in your plans, it means so much to them to be involved BUT DO NOT compromise what you want.  You must remember its your day not anyone else's.

Most importantly work to your budget and compromise with one another. Its so easy to disagree and fall out over where money should be spent. Its ridiculously easy to spend too much money when it comes to weddings so try and barter a little bit with suppliers or use the talents of friends and family to save yourself some cash…"

Aww, so cute! Big congrats to Jessica and David and thanks as always to Joanna Brown for sharing her wonderful photographs…

"The wonderful Joanna Brown's photography is natural and relaxed and everything a modern bride wants to compliment her day. I would never have had traditional photo's around my house, they just don't suit me but the photographs that Joanna has produced are stunning and totally encapsulate the day. We're pleased, our family is pleased and the guests loved every minute of the photo booth on the evening. Perfect."
