Mark W Brown ~ Super-8mm Vintage Style Wedding Films…

Morning guys and gals, and how does this blog post find you? I can't believe it's Wednesday already. I can't believe it's 8th June already! This has been the fastest year EVER for me so far. I guess it's a symptom of becoming my own boss and never feeling like I have enough time!

I'm so thrilled this month to have taken on board a lovely new sponsor, Mark W. BrownMark W. Brown is a wedding film-maker, Cinematographer, master of the audio-visual craft.

I've long been a Super-8 fan.  If you're not familiar with this style of film-making, which Mark describes as "vintage, simplistic, romantic, elegant with a dash of grace and a lotta love!", then this feature will introduce you nicely.

Mark tells us more…

"My name is  Mark W. Brown  and I am a filmmaker that specializes in Super-8mm Wedding Films.

Super-8mm is a motion picture format, different to video because in stead of capturing the image to an HD card or video tape it exposes the image onto a strip of film 8mm wide (hence the name). The final result is beautiful, with a timeless quality that video cannot replicate.

Super-8mm was at the height of its popularity in the 50's, 60's and 70's, but with the increase in digital video, it became too expensive for the average household and simply faded away. But in the last decade it has made a big comeback through visual artists and (more recently) Wedding Filmmakers who wish to create films that are more closely associated to art than your run-of-the-mill Wedding video…"

"Although Super-8mm Wedding Films are more common in the West Coast of the USA (Joel Serrato, Sharkpig, Brandon Goodwin), their reputation has drifted on a westerly wind toward Europe, where couples who are after that something special and different are taking notice.

I provide a simple and elegant film using vintage movie cameras, combing both black and white and colour film stocks.

I am based in London, but travel around the UK and worldwide for destination Weddings…"

"Because the simplicity of it. Most couples don't want the average 2hr video with the tacky effects and synthesized music… they want something that will be true to the day, original and age gracefully… something their great grandchildren can watch and love as much as they did."

Mark has a single fee of £1,500 for his services.  If you are interested in learning anymore about this beautiful film format, then drop Mark a line by visting the Mark W. Brown Website or Blog.
