Morning All! And wow! From where I'm sat working, it is a beeeeeautiful day outside! Dropping off my little baby girl at nursery this morning and feeling the gentle 'it's nearly Summer time' breeze catch the hairs on my arms sent a few tingles all over and made me feel glad to be alive. Oh rejoice! hehehe Minna ~ Eco Luxe Vintage, Handmade and Ethical Wedding Dresses... ()

OK, let's get down to business.  I have some beautiful bridal wear to share with you this morning, courtesy of ethical clothing company, MinnaMinna, the designer behind her namesake brand of handmade and ethical wedding dresses, contacted me recently to tell me all about her beautiful new collection – which I love by the way, for it is full of era references towards the 1960's {that gorgeous baby-doll style dress} and 70's {the lovely boho style sleeveless dress in the first image below there}.

Designer Minna, tells us more…

"I launched my vintage inspired women's wear label Minna in 2008 and have since showed my collections at the London Fashion week and worked with prestigious stores such as A la Mode in London's Sloane Square, Harrods, Anthropology and Young British Designers.

Last year I have really started to crave being more creative. Everyone kept telling us" you must start doing more dresses suitable for weddings" – it didn't hit me until Marchthat this is what I really wanted to do. To create unique dresses for special occasions in life, whether it was weddings christenings or engagement parties.

The Minna collection of wedding dresses is now complete and will be sold via the Minna Website from August this year…"

"Minna ~ Eco Luxe Vintage, Handmade and Ethical Wedding Dresses... ()I hate to use the word vintage inspired but that really is the only word to describe our signature style. Our pieces are ethereal, feminine and dreamy. I am a very visual person and our designs need to look good and should not be hidden inside wardrobe. In fact, I hang my designs in my bedroom to look at they are so pretty!

We use a lot of lace and embellish our designs in a way that you do not see much these days. Since we use a lot of vintage textiles, we can still mass produce our designs but each pieces is one of a kind the way they are embellished. It is the little details that matters the most to me!"

"All Minna designs are made from the finest lace and silks and we use lot of vintage fabrics.  Our designs are stocked around the world but the main part of the business revolves around our online shop and getting to know our customers better.

All our designs are made in the UK and we recycle all left over fabrics and use them for embellishing the designs and incorporate them into our new collections…"

Where can your designs be purchased from?
We have stockists around the world but all our designs can be bought from our website www.minna.co.uk
We are still selling pieces from our old collections as for me, fashion should be timeless and not dictated by trends.

What inspires you when designing?

I love researching blogs and how people dress up. I love designing for women, who throw a bit of vintage, highstreet and designer labels on. For me, fashion is all about individuality rather than trends. I love reading books and surprisingly, it is the interior design books that give me inspiration. I also buy lot of vintage so lot of those pieces that I have purchased over the years have served as a source of inspiration.

"For me, this collection is all about value for money. I see lot of young people getting married and not being able to buy their dream wedding dress. Our prices range from £250 to £ 700 and accessories from £20-£150. There will be a small additional charge if we need to tweak our designs a bit for better fit.

We also offer a "pimp your shoes" service where we can customise shoes to match the dress. All accessories can also be customised according to customer's wishes.

Buying dresses on the internet does not need to be a boring, heartless experience – we want our customers to be very involved in design and embellishing process, which makes the whole experience more personal…"

  1. Thanks for your comments peeps! It’s refreshing to see a designer do something so different I feel, and yet still adhere to her morals to produce ethical clothing. Bravo Minna! ;))

  2. Found this looking for ethical dresses – for my wife ;) I built a website recently for MuddandWater (http://www.muddandwater.com if you want to take a look) who are an ethical fashion company; got me interested in ethics of clothing…all a bit shocking when you dig a little! Keep up the good work!
