A Short, Green Wedding Dress and Pretty Floral Shoes…

Morning all,  I'm a little bit late with my usual morning blog post, so let's get straight to down to the details with this one 🙂

Mr and Mrs G' got married on 16 July this year at Lains Barn, near Wantage, Oxfordshire…

"Mark and I both studied in Oxford and so we thought it would be nice to go back.  We also had friends and family coming from all over and so we decided to meet in the middle!  I found the venue on google, it seemed to fit the bill so we went to have a look – it was the first and only place we saw, we loved it straight away; they had Mark’s birthday free and so it seemed like fate…"

I love that the Bride opted for a green dress over traditional white.  This lovely tea length design was created by The Couture Company…and those shoes!

I wanted something with a retro feel, I also loved the fact that I could choose the colour.  In the end I chose a pale gree to complement my shoes.  I was keen to have a handmade dress and to support a local supplier – the fact that they make the most fabulous corsets didn’t hurt either!"

"I decided that with a shorter dress my shoes had to be amazing.  I did some resarch and all the shoes that I found that I loved were all by Hetty Rose.

It was hugely decadent but I thought if you can’t do it on your wedding day, when can you?  I also figured that they were the one item that I could easily wear over and over.  Hetty makes shoes from recycled vintage kimono fabrics, I told her what colours I had in mind and she emailed over some pictures.  I instantly fell in love with a pale green, coral, orange and pink orchid design and chose the style of shoe – a quirky take on a 50’s shoe with a great peep-toe.

Hetty Rose made the shoes to measure and I met up with her in London for a fitting; and sh would email me photos as they were being made.  The whole process was really enjoyable.  Pretty much the whole inspiration for the wedding stemmed from these shoes!"

….it's some beautiful flowers…

"My florist was a colleague of mine from work – Rosemary Haarhof; she is exceptionally talented so I knew I could trust her.  I gave her a cutting of my shoe fabric and an idea of what I wanted and she came up trumps…."

What a lovely frock, and how smart of the Bride – she'll get to wear it again and again…

"I wore a brooch of my mother’s in my hair (my something old) – my friend who is a jeweller had it re-set for me with a pale green stone to match my dress.  Jo at the Couture Co also made me a flower from the dress fabric to go in my hair.  My friend Kate is an amazing jeweller and she lent me the necklace and earrings (they were my something borrowed).  Kate has some beautiful stuff – she also made Mark’s wedding ring.

My bracelet and ring (not my wedding ring) are both by Mirri Damer – the ring was a present from Mark when I had our daughter and the bracelet was a present for myself when I turned 30. I wear these everyday..."

"I think the venue leant itself to a rustic styling, I have also always been a fan of homemade crafts and so I was keen to get and make bespoke, handmade items wherever I could…"

What a lovely lovely wedding! Huge thanks to Love Me Do Weddings for sharing these lovely photographs and kudos for stepping in at the last minute to save the day…

"Our photographer dropped out about two months before the wedding and so Jo at The Couture Company recommended Sarah Hinton from Love Me Do Weddings.  I was so pleased that Sarah and her Mom documented our wedding for us – they really captured a feel for the day; I couldn’t have been more happy with the work they did.  They did a great job capturing all the details."

Are any of my readers going for a non-traditional dress in a colour?

Much love all – pop back at lunch time for details of a special reader discount with Liberty in Love.
