Bridal Inspiration Board #27 ~ Winter Spice…

Afternoon folks 🙂 My usual Friday morning inspiration is coming a day early this week – for no other reason other than I am feeling so festive today? I haven't a clue what has got into me – I'm not normally your 'Christmas in November' kind of girl but I am chomping on the bit to get the Chrimbo decorations up already and so this beautiful set of winter warming inspiration boards, designed by the lovely Michelle of Pocketful of Dreams came at just the right time. This is something for all you lovely Brides planning a Winter wedding…

Hello everyone,  I'm back again with a huge dose of wedding inspiration for you lovely Love My Dress readers and this week my thoughts have turned to a certain man named Jack…

Jack strolls into my life every year, more often than not I'm really not very pleased to see him as quite frankly he ain't so nice. He nips my nose and my toes, not to mention leaving his mark on my car windows every morning. But then as time goes by I kinda warm to him a little, heck I even begin to love him. I am of course talking about our dear friend Mr Jack Frost, the signal that winter has well and truly arrived. Like a lot of people I haven't particularly loved this time of year previously, when it seems dark all the time and there's a distinct chill in the air, but over the years I've come to LOVE winter. The winter I mean of course is where the land is turned white, with soft snow clinging to every surface and for a few days (or weeks!) everything looks so pretty and magical. That's the winter I love and the winter I'm really, really looking forward to.

So the soft, snowy wintery season has been my inspiration for todays mood board: Winter Spice. (And not some long-lost member of a certain girl group we all knew and loved in the nineties!)…Winter Spice_Lookbook-1

Winter Spice takes the delicate and icy landscape as inspiration and mixes it with natural winter elements like pinecones and reindeer, soft furs, fine silks and warm chunky knits. A really pale and natural palette of winter whites and creams, accented with fawn and mink.

Styling a winter wedding can be subtle or extravagant, it really doesn't matter which route you choose as generally everywhere already looks so twinkly and lovely, all trussed up for Christmas. If you're lucky enough to have snow too you already have a beautiful setting, it may cause a few more issues for your guests in actually reaching you but I say embrace it, some of the most striking weddings I have seen have been snowy ones. (Yes you Anna and the Ring).Winter Spice_Lookbook-1

Natural elements work so well in the Winter Spice style, so think twigs and pinecones for your place settings and name tags. I love how the cake pictured only very subtly hints at a winter style with it's pom-poms and snowflake design. The fabric snowflake also pictured is actually a pin, what a beautiful gift for each of your guests don't you think? or why not try a delicious homemade favour like these hot chocolate treats in a jar, you can fancy them up with vintage lace and buttons or even wrap them up in old arran knitwear for a warm and cosy feel.

And how do you ensure those toes and noses stay warm and happy? A hot chocolate bar of course! Who doesn't love hot chocolate and marshmallows on a cold winters day? Now I did say this was Winter Spice inspiration so make sure those hot chocolates are spiced-up with a whole host of delicious liquors. Mmmm, yummy.Winter Spice_Lookbook-1

My Winter Spice bride is looking ethereal and gorgeous in this champagne coloured gown by Leila Hafzi, with it's long sheer sleeves and buttoned cuffs it's perfect for chillier days, whilst the open cowl-back add a dramatic romance. Paired with a faux fur coat or stole, like this one from ASOS, this bride will be toasty warm yet still dazzling.

Whilst her maids will look super-sophisticated in this Winter Bex silk embellished shift dress in 'wood pigeon' from French Connection. Paired with this dainty faux fur shrug by Very, cream crochet lace design tights and a dazzling pair of Alexander Wang open-toe suedebooties.

Gorgeous…
