‘Good-day Sunshine!’ ~ Yellow & Lime Green Wedding Day Love…

For all you Brides planning a Summer 2012 wedding, here's one for you! I love how the summer months provide an opportunity to go as wild as you like with colour styling – an opportunity to bring out the brights and the bolds.

These beautiful images which showcase how the colours yellow and lime green can be used to style your wedding day were sent in by the lovely Juliet McKee {who I met on Sunday at the launch of the beautiful luxury Surrey Wedding Venue, Fetcham Park}.

These photos are the result of a collaborative photoshoot that Juliet organized with Stacey Marie Chalk of Cherry Topped Bespoke Weddings.  The dresses were supplied by Lou Lou Bridal {from their brand new/never seen on any blogs before 2012 collection} which were customised for this shoot with a green sash by the amazing Emma Meek of  Miss Bush Bridal {who I spent Sunday evening discussing the finer points of social media with – er, I think *trys to remember through the Proscecco induced mist*}.

I love a pretty inspiration shoot and these colours really pop for me.  Juliet McKee tells us more…

"Some months ago I decided to approach the lovely Stacey-Marie of Cherry Topped Bespoke Weddings to see if she would be interested in a collaborative bridal photo shoot. We have worked together before and Stacey-Marie has a brilliant eye for style and detail.  Well lucky for me she said yes and so we set about planning an exciting project. We wanted to create a fresh, bright and bold style which would combine the fun feeling of the summer of love with the elegance of Audrey. We went for a sunshine yellow with a contrasting deep lime green.

To gather our ideas and inspiration we used the hugely addictive Pinterest to share images we both came across which hinted at the style, colour and design of the shoot. Stacey-Marie then compiled an inspiration board which we shared with the suppliers who we set about contacting to see if they’d be interested in working with us. I’ll let Stacey-Marie continue the story behind the inspiration and how she went about bringing together the style."

From here, Stacey-Marie of Cherry Topped Bespoke Weddings describes the shoot and all those gorgeous elements in detail….

"With our vision and inspiration in place we wanted to make sure that our ideas were feasible; for brides to be able to create them themselves and to provide alternative colour and design inspiration. It turned out (after the photo shoot day!) that the yellow and green colours are said to be big for next year according to Pantone’s colour report. So on to the details…"

"The first person Juliet got in touch with was Emma Meek of Miss Bush Bridal, a Surrey Bridal Boutique. Emma’s stock of Lou Lou Bridal dresses were perfect for the fifties/ early sixties look that we wanted to create with our model Kitty; they are also extremely reasonably priced. We had a fun evening selecting dresses for the shoot, and were very privileged to be given a couple of samples of LouLou’s 2012 collection which had not yet been seen. The first dress is a silk organza dress with a high neck and deep V back with lace appliquéd waist (style LB29, to be released next year). We wanted to accessorise this with a bespoke oversized green duchess silk bow for Kitty’s hair and matching green shoes, Emma was very helpful with sourcing bespoke dyed shoes and her wonderful seamstress Janet worked her magic with accessories.

Kitty’s second dress, also by  Lou Lou, was a full duchess satin skirt, with beaded lace appliqué bodice, buttoned back and satin belt (style LB33, to be released early next year). This dress required delicate accessorising with a dainty diamante bow in her hair together with a short satin-edged double veil. Kitty also wore ivory satin “Tease” shoes by Pink…"

"Steph from Fairynuff Flowers provided the stunning bouquets and the beautiful vase arrangements. After sharing the inspiration boards with Steph she completely understood the look we were after. Using a bright elegant combination of little daisy style chrysanths, sunflowers, roses, craspedia, dill, succulents, carnations and stocks to name a few. Steph sourced some complementary white glass vases for the table, which were a little mission in themselves!"

"The icing on the cake for the fun element of the shoot was provided by Helen from Polly Pootles who volunteered her fabulous vintage VW Beetle “Polly”. A perfect way for a bride and groom to ride off into the sunset as husband and wife! Polly also comes with all sorts of sixties style props such as a vintage suitcase and radio!"

"During the planning phase Emma sourced an amazing vintage Berketex dress which we shot towards the end of the day when the light was just amazing, giving such a romantic feel. Something a little different for a more ‘rustic’ bride, imagining an open air ceremony with a real countryside feel…."Kitty’s hair and makeup was styled by Gemma Sutton and her assistant Stacey.

For the LouLou dresses, we wanted to create a late fifties/ early sixties feel with larger graceful waves and a bit of fun with slightly exaggerated eyeliner and lips. Then for the vintage Berketex dress Gemma transformed Kitty into a sultry ‘hippy’ barefoot bride with loose waves and smoky eyes..."

"The stunning venue responsible for the most amazing setting for our shoot was  Pendell House, in Bletchingley, Surrey. I visited Pendell House some months ago and loved its relaxed intimate atmosphere. Once the inspiration and colours were sorted for our shoot I thought of Pendell House as its decor suited the design perfectly. Pendell House is the quintessential English Manor House, with elaborate yet cosy rooms and its pretty secluded grounds, it was the perfect venue..."

"For the table I wanted to make use of different linen, crockery, cutlery and glassware which would suit the overall design. By hiring in alternative tableware (Jones Hire) you can easily create a very different atmosphere for your wedding breakfast. Bows were a subtle addition throughout the shoot with hair accessories, shoes, and stationery, so I introduced them onto the table by tying the napkins into bows. The distinctive cutlery matched the sixties feel, the chairs and the black in the stationery.

Making use of charger plates is a fabulous way to introduce colour to your table together with coloured wine or water glasses, it immediately lifts the design and creates an individual ambience…"

"Stationery is a great way to bring together a style and colour throughout a wedding. Wendy at  August Moon was inspired by the bright bold style and the hint towards the sixties with a contemporary feel. The shape of a sunflower provided a perfect starting point for Wendy’s artistic design. With the contrast of the yellow, green and black the stationery brought together all the elements of the shoot…"

" Wendy also supplied some little “sweetie mix” labels which Sarah from Creative Candi used on her beautiful vintage apothecary jars of sweets. Nest also provided one of their elegant covered urns which Sarah filled with sweets. The sweetie mix buffet incorporated the colours and provided a fun element to the shoot. A lovely fun accompaniment to your wedding reception and can easily be styled according to your wedding design..."

"Sunflowers and daisies were part of our inspiration for the sunshine yellow colour. Inspired by the flowers Janet Mohapi-Banks created “Summer” a beautifully striking 4 tier wedding cake covered in delicately hand crafted sunflowers and daisies, perfectly bold and elegant with a touch of fun too! Having an artistic wedding cake such as “Summer” provides such a gorgeous centre piece for a summer’s day wedding..."

"Last, but most definitely not least, is Juliet ! Working with Juliet is just such a brilliant experience! She worked so, so hard making sure all details and elements were captured to their very best, in the best locations and in the best light (literally!). She has captured the look and feel of our ideas amazingly!

Everyone involved in this styled bridal shoot were absolutely adorable to work with and all put in so much effort to bring the style and design together. By pulling together your initial wedding ideas and inspiration to show your wedding suppliers, they can then use their expertise and imagination to create each element of your wedding day to suit your requirements. We hope that this has inspired you even in some little way by showcasing different ideas and ways of introducing variety, colour, and personalised touches into your wedding day!"
