Queen Anne’s Lace for a Pretty Peach Wedding…

Good morning you 🙂 Well from where I'm sat today, the sun is shining it's beautiful late Autumnal light – and I'm ready for a day packed full of writing up blog posts for the week ahead, I have so much lovely stuff to share with you, starting with the wedding day of Amy and David, who tied the knot on 29 August this year at South Farm

This pretty peach celebration was an extra special one for the whole family, for reasons that become clear further in to the post, and Amy wanted to go all out on finding the most beautiful dress to mark the occasion.  Her quest led her, of course, to the wonderful Claire Pettibone, and The 'Queen Anne’s Lace' wedding dress design.  Talking of Claire Pettibone, did you see these glorious new designs and back stage shots yesterday that Claire Pettibone sent me?

"I saw Some of Claire Pettibone's designs in various wedding magazines.  Her dresses were the only ones that felt like 'me'.

I loved the vintage ethereal vibe of her designs.  I tried on about 5 of her dresses, but Queen Anne’s Lace was definitely the one. I brought my older daughter Halyley {12} and my 3 'unofficial' bridesmaids with me, who confirmed what I already knew – this was my dress.

Blackburn Bridal Couture was the only shop I went to for a fitting.  Once you find your dress, you know, and it would have been pointless to continue looking…."

"My shoes were from Next (can you believe it!….only £30)  I loved them and they were very comfortable.  I amn a size 9, and it is difficult to find every day shoes, let alone special ones.  Further, I had splurged on the dress I wanted, so we had to be frugal in only areas…"

"I wore Pearl earrings that had belonged to my mother, who sadly passed away in 2002.  I had to include her in some way.  Wearing her earrings definitely helped me to feel her presence on the day. I also wore a very special ring which belonged to her.

"When it came to flowers, I knew I wanted something simple and hand tied.  I chose roses and daises as they were my mum’s favourite flowers.  Love Flowers did a wonderful job of creating what I wanted.  We did not spend a huge amount of money on flowers, but they could not have been any better.  They were simple and beautiful…"

"Both of my daughters (my 2 official bridesmaids) also wore pearl earrings that had belonged to my mother which was really important to me.  Hayley also wore vintage inspired bracelets from Primark….'

"My son Andre (16) gave me away.  This was the highlight of my day.  Andre has been ill for over a year with a heart condition called Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.  Shortly after our engagement, we found out that he needed open heart surgery.  The surgery done in March this year was complicated and he haemorrhaged and nearly died.  His recovery has bee long and slow.  Until just before I walked down the aisle, I was certain if he was going to be able to do it.  It was a very special moment which I will never forget…."

"All of our styling was done by Be Vintage by Beth Morgan Allen.  Wow…what can I say.  Beth did the most amazing job.  She has a huge collection of vintage and vintage inspired pieces and decorations… candle holders, vases, bunting, birdcages, pearls etc. As we had a very tight budget We bought stalks of flowers, which Beth put together with her candle holders and vases in the most beautiful way. She also created our unique table plan from a vintage suitcase.  It was exceptional. When I walked into the reception, her creation brought tears to my eyes.  It was just how I wanted it and was more exceptional than I could have imagined…"

"The style we chose reflects us as a couple.  We love the vintage look.  We would never have had a flash modern wedding.  It would have felt like were at someone elses wedding.  I did look through plenty of bridal magazines to get ideas.  Further the venue we chose also inspired us.  Beth from be Vintage gave us further ideas which we loved…."

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

"Weddings are expensive.  Decide what aspects of your wedding are most important to you.  Don’t cut costs in those areas.  You can save in areas that are not as important.  Also call on your family and friends that have talents to help out with the day.  It makes it more special and saves money.  Further, remember, it’s your day.  Don’t get too caught up in worrying about pleasing everyone else…."

Please join me in congratulating the couple for their beautiful wedding day – x, I couldn't be happier for you, especially knowing what you have been through this year.

Huge thanks too to the absolutely delightful Ria Mishaal

"We found our photographer Ria via her website.  Images are very important to me, and I loved her style.   She came out to meet us initially for an engagement shoot (part of the package).  She advised us that this was her chance to get to know us and what would be important to us as far as our photographs were concerned.

When I met her, I instantly liked her and knew we had made the right choice.  We weren’t interested in the traditional posed shots.  We wanted candid images of our day.

On the day, she was brilliat – not at all intrusive, and again very intuitive.  All I can say is that I am incredibly happy with our photos.  They are far more amazing than I could ever have imagined.  She captured our perfect day perfectly."

So my lovely readers, anyone else donning an exquisite Claire Pettibone lace number for ther nuptials? I'd love to hear from you 🙂
