A Temperley London Wedding Dress for a Relaxed, Country Chic Style Celebration…

Happy (very late) afternoon Ladies and Gents 🙂 Though I’m way later than usual posting this to the blog, I just couldn’t let you go today without a real wedding in photographs {did you see this lovely film over lunch?}, so here is the wedding of Nicky & Simon, who got married on 1st October 2011 in Wales – Nicky infact planned the whole day in just 3 months!

The couple tied the knot with a ceremony at St Elians Church in Llanelian Yn Rhos, North Wales, followed by a reception at the White Lion Inn, and evening celebrations at Bodysgallen Hall.

I think Nicky looks fantastic in her exquisite lace ‘Jessamine’ wedding dress by Temperley London

“My amazing ‘Jessamine’ wedding dress, by Temperley London, the church & the country village gave me the theme of ‘country chic’ which was our dress code for the wedding, albeit tongue in cheek.  We had lots of very finely dressed guests sporting tweeds & riding boots!

My dress was the one & only dress I tried on.  When I know something is right there is no changing my mind, and besides, no other dress would ever of measured up to this one.

I’ve never been a girl for frills & fuss  & always imagined my dress would be a short contemporary style but when I picked this dress up with its hand sewn crystals & French Lace it felt like we had met in a childhood fairytale book before!”

“Our Florist was Mandy Louise of ‘Flower Designs’

“Mandy ordered in two types of roses, the Amnesia (pale lilac) looks papery, vintage & smelt lovely they reminded me of my Grandmothers @blue Moon’ rose bush in her garden the other rose was a simple Cream colour…”

“I wore Jimmy Choo ‘Amina’ shoes, of course!  I also wore Wolford white hold ups bought on ‘Net a Porter’ & Mimi Holdiay briefs & bra set also from Net  a Porter…”

Shoes

“I used Vintage style fabric handmade green & cream bunting for decorating the pubs beams & bought large pale green Garden Trading jugs from A Place For Everything online – they sell really useful & stylish storage items for the house which we desperately needed!  In the jugs we used garden Hydraengas & tied bunches of dried lavender with a cream ‘just married’ flag in each for the tables indoor & out along with the jars of decorated chutney…”

“If anything was to have influenced my wedding day feel and style, I suppose all the special books I have ever read as a young girl…The Wind in the Willows…The Secret Garden…even Cold Comfort farm!  Also the Villag, with its amazing sea & country views, its long history & secret stories of Cursing Wells & magic!  We have lived there for 3 years now & having renovated ‘Wreck of the week’ (according to the Guardian which featured it one day!) the setting was really important as we have put blood sweat & tears into the house & its also where our son was born & will be bought up so we felt a village wedding would be a great way of fully integrating with the village & truly making it our home.

I had our own invites made up & the image was taken from a book I bought on E-bay…Randolph Caldecotts picture & story book (1860 something!) & the actual plate was taken from a story called ‘The frog who would a wooing go’ our local printers Powlsons in Colwyn Bay speedily printed them up for us & again I thought the image tied in with the Country Chic theme…”

“My wedding dress fitted like a glove & the lace was exquisite, I didn’t want to ever take it off it really did make me feel like a princess in the best possible way… it was also really easy to wear & I didn’t have to fuss with it at all over the day.

Someone actually asked If I had inherited the dress as it is so beautifully vintage looking…I also wanted something I could pass down to a daughter or granddaughter. ‘Federica’ at the bridal boutique was so charming & helpful it was a real experience visiting the Notting Hill boutique painted with the Union Jack & something I will remember forever.

Alice has been kind enough to sign one of my wedding invites I left with the boutique she wrote ‘A happily ever after’…”

“We purposely asked our Florist Mandy for a very natural look as we were mainly using flowers from my cottage garden ( to save money) so lots of late season  lavender, Dill, Eucalyptus,  sage, rosemary, Garlic flowers, ivy, thistle, more roses & my favourite garden shrub flower Hydrangea paniculata ‘Limelight’ which we used in the bouquet & the bridesmaids head wreaths its particulary stunning as the colour fades from cream to green & pink perfect for that Old fashioned country garden look.

Mandy stayed with me the night before the wedding arranging all the flowers in the balmy evening heat & we spent the final hours arranging  the jugs on my patio at 9pm in our bare feet supping a glass of Cava & eating lemon cake to keep us going!”

“Our Son William wore a military jacket by Stella McCartney Kids, we also sewed on his Grandfathers ‘Parachute’ regiment badge for authenticity & sentiment!”…

“We chose this beautiful 12th Century Church as it is literally across the road from the Estate House we recently renovated & now live in with our 2 year old son William who was born to the village & christened in the church, so It felt ‘right’ that we married there we were also able to invite the whole village which was great fun…& also really touching as I had lots of lovely thank your letters & individual gifts from our neighbours it felt like everyone was really part of it.

I was able to watch as Simon arrived on his chauffeur driven Tractor from my bedroom window! & then walk across with my bridesmaids to the church door…”

“Our wedding day transport was adecrepit tractor!  We used it for the groom & his best men and it was driven by 16 year Old farmer Toby who lives up the road.

I was able to walk across the road , I had to go back the first time as there was a queue to get in!”

“We have been together for 11 years when I told Simon he was marrying me in 3 months – does that count as a proposal….? Seriously though he did drop a little cream box with a big diamond in it in my M&S chocolate pudding one evening….!”

The Groom wore a Robert Noble Tweed jacket, and Gieves & Hawkes socks…

“I was searching for a country style  tweed suit that Simon would wear again & found the Gieves & Hawkes website.  Simon also wore a Vintage 1970’s Stainless Steel ROLEX wrist watch, which was a gift from me…”
