Good afternoon peoples 🙂 Time to share another real wedding. Well, it would be rude not to!
Inspired by Somerset, the 1950’s, the groom's love of music, Anna and Matt tied the knot on 3rd September 2011 at Rivervale Barn, Yately, Hampshire.
Anna grew up in Somerset and wanted a venue that hinted back to her Somerset roots so the new green oak barn located on the banks of the River Blackwater was a perfect location.
Anna's choice of gown for the day was a beautiful Sassi Holford design…
"The dress was called Beatrice and had a bateaux neck line with bow and diamante detail at the waist leading to a full skirt. I loved the 1950’s style dresses and had watched breakfast at tiffany’s for the first time a few days before visiting the bridal shop. When I met Sassi and tried on Beatrice for the first time we all said it reminded us of something Audrey Hepburn would wear and i knew it was fate!
I also wore a Sassi Holford birdcage veil and a Dolecka flower headband, from the Florence colleciton, made in the same fabric as my shoes, from Ted Baker {the Kemina Rose peep toes}…"

Anna's Bridesmaids wore the John Lewis Kaliko Satin Rose Shift Dress in pink…
"My brother’s girlfriend’s family own a shop (G.C.R Jewellery) in the jewellery quarter in Birmingham and supply some beautiful Marcasite jewellery. I bought my earrings and the bridesmaids earrings from here and Matthew surprised me with the matching bracelet on the morning of the wedding…"
"Effie at Exceptional Flowers was recommended on the Rivervale Barns facebook page by other brides and after an initial meeting we were excited to find a supplier who wanted us to get the best we could whilst staying within our budget. She had great ways to save money such as using our bouquets to make the top table decorations. Everything was used in multiple locations to give the impression we had loads of flowers.
She was really creative and had some great ideas, she even added sprigs of lavender to all our bouquets fresh from her own garden which gave a beautiful aroma as we walked down the isle…"
"We danced to 'You Got The Love' by Florence and the Machine. We both love house music and Matt DJ’s in Mangos in Reading so we wanted something that reflected our love of that music. At V Festival we finally got to see Florance play live and we knew straight away that it was the song we wanted to have our first dance to…"
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
"Everyone told us to take 10 minutes out on our own to take it all in. Before the wedding breakfast we snuck off (which is harder than you think) and took some time out to stand back and absorb what we had just done and watch our guests enjoying themselves…"
Huge thanks to Photographer Jacqui McSweeney for sharing this lovely day with Love My Dress today.
"I was recommended Jacqui as a photographer by a friend at work and we really couldn’t have hoped for a better photographer. We had a great first meeting at Brighton where we had a pre wedding shoot on the beach and amongst the fairground rides and we knew then that she was going to capture some fantastic moments on our special day!"
Is anyone else planning on tieing the knot at Rivervale Barn, or wearing a gorgeous Sassi Holford design like Anna here?
