Sail Away With Me ~ 1930’s Inspired Bridal Editorial

I have a real beauty of an inspiration shoot to share with you this morning, courtesy of Pamela Farrell, founder of Fly Away Bride.

Pamela recently send these images over asking if I’d be interested in blogging them – it was a dead cert of a yes from me – one look at that gorgeous styling and I was completely smitten. I am also a lady whose heart is at home when it is by the sea; living near the coast and marrying near it also.

Fly Away Bride was conceived by myself, Pamela Farrell {designer at Farrell & Chase}, after planning my own destination wedding in Rome last summer. With a passion for destination weddings I wanted to help other brides planning their dream wedding from a distance. Not long after after my wedding Lindsay joined me at Fly Away Bride sharing the same love for everything destination, wedding and everything stylish.

Our aim at Fly Away Bride  is to inspire brides planning their destination wedding so we thought what better way to do that than by organising a destination inspiration shoot.  We were delighted to partner with some of Ireland’s most talented suppliers for the very special shoot; Sail Away With Me.

“Inspired by 1930’s style, we set about styling the shoot as an elopement followed by a stylish knees up onboard the Cill Airne. Sailing away into the sunset, partying the night away, you could be anywhere in the world, what could be more romantic. From the vintage luggage and the airmail stationery to the broach bouquets and compass gift for the groom we tried to make every detail an enhancement of the vintage travel theme.”Michelle O’Halloran styled Aisling hair in loose pin curls inspired by the 1930′s and Ellie Balfe transformed Aisling into a 1930′s starlet with beautiful plumb lips and dusty eyes.

The very talented Christina from Brosnan Photographic captured the beautiful images and Aga from White Tea joined us later in the day to second shoot.

The bride’s beautiful coat, hat, Temperley dress and sequin dress are all from Covet , The Borrowers Boudoir. Covet stock a stunning range of both new and vintage designer wear which you can hire for special occasions including wedding dresses, for a fraction of the original cost.
Best of Buds Flowers & Events created the broach bouquet especially for the shoot. Broach bouquets are perfect for destination brides, easy to pack and no need to worry about wilting flowers in warmer weather.

Farrell & Chase (Pamela Farrell) designed the bespoke boarding passes which make for novel seating cards, displayed in a vintage case to create a neat seating plan. I also provided the stationary and signage. I felt our “Love Letters” suite lent itself perfectly to the shoot.
Instead of a guest book, messages in bottles for the Bride and Groom were used, complete with vintage ink well and feather!

The mouth-watering treats were made and hand-decorated by Sam at Cloudberry Bakery. They were delicious, we all took some home at the end of the shoot! Mojito and White Chocolate Mouse, Caramel and Sea Salt Cupcakes and Coconut Madeleines… every evocative of the glamorous era that was the 1930s with a hint of travel thrown in for good measure!

All of the grooms wear form the shoot was sourced from Harlequin, a vintage clothing store in Dublin, where we discovered the very dapper vintage pinstripe Christian Dior suit. Rodolphe from Best Day Productions was on hand to capture all the action on video and created a stunning piece of cinematography, Sail Away!
