Time For Tea ~ Tea Length Wedding Dresses by Independent Dress Designer, Joanne Fleming…

Morning all 😉 This morning I want to share some images of the beautiful dresses that Brighton based dress designer  Joanne Fleming has been producing of late.  Anyone who knows me at all knows that I am a huge supporter of the independent dress designer, and Joanne Fleming has been a personal favourite of mine for the past two years, ever since I discovered her work through researching for Love My Dress one day.

These images show some of Joanne's tea length wedding dress designs.   Traditionally, the tea gown dates back to the late 18th/early 19th century, when women would only ever wear dresses and would change dresses several times daily for different functions or meals.  Afternoon tea was a popular gathering of women back then {tea and gossip!} and a formal, but less glamorous dress would be worn by the ladies…

These days, the tea length dress is a popular style choice with the vintage loving Bride, especially those going for something of a 1950's look – when this particular length of dress was popular, as was the full-circle skirt dresse style, some of which you see below.  I LOVE a full-circle skirt dress – they give amazing twirl and are such fun on the dance floor at the end of the evening 🙂

I love how Joanne Fleming has adapted the concept of the tea length dress and produced several very different designs.  Isn't the design below just absolutely gorgeous?  Quite 1960's like in it's nature, love the bateau neck and the beautiful buttons the run down the centre of the back…
