Bridal Inspiration Board #37 ~ Pastel Dreams…

Goooooood morning!  Love My Dress took an unexpected day off yesterday – life has that habit of throwing a curve ball your way just when you least expect it! But fear not my trustee wedding blog lovelies, I’m back with a bumper day full of pretty for you.  And it’s Friday too, double yay!! 😉

Yesterday was International Women’s Day and I wrote this post for the fabulous new Any Other Woman blog – do pop over to leave a comment if you haven’t yet, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

This morning I’m featuring the work of the wonderfully creative Michelle Kelly of Pocketful of Dreams who is celebrating the current trend for all things pastel with these lovely inspiration boards.  Aren’t they pretty?

Good morning folks,

Welcome to another instalment of pretty bridal inspiration and this week I’m talking pastels which is something I’ve loved for quite a while…

You cannot escape the fact that this is a HUGE trend right now, with the delicious sugary-sweet shades appearing on everything from fashion to homewares. Whilst I don’t agree with following trends for your wedding day it is useful to know what’s available in the shops during the planning process to see how you can make use of fashions and decor for your big day.

Pastels provide a deliciously soft and romantic backdrop and with so many colours to choose from you can really mix things up.

For the bridal look I have kept things very soft and pretty with this incredible Monique Lhuillier Spring 2012 Waltz blush silk gauze strapless gown with full embroided skit and bustled bow at back, paired with these Casadei soft leather pastel pink platforms. I have added in a Tresse necklace by Eclectic-Mix Accessories, this beautiful collection of bridal accessories includes necklaces, bracelets and belts and is so adaptable. Featuring a soft braided and Swarovski pearls you can have any colour you choose to co-ordinate with your dress. I have a pretty pastel green necklace and bracelet myself which always receives so many lovely comments whenever I wear them.

A row of maids in pretty pastel dresses would be the ideal solution to that ‘how to dress your maids’ conundrum. With various styles as well as colours in this collection by Donna Morgan you will be sure to find something to suit all figures.

Why not create a unique guestbook table using old wooden crates dressed up with pastel ribbons, anything a little shabby chic and whitewashed would look perfect with pastels. GIve your guests pretty paper and pastel coloured pencils.

A dessert table is a lovely alternative to just serving up a traditional wedding cake, you can pretty things up by co-ordinating sweet treats in pastel colours, and create a backdrop out of gorgeous huge round balloons.

For the buttonholes, consider a mix of different pastel colours, they also work well with a pop of colour like those above.
