Juliet by Claire Pettibone for a Lovely, Relaxed English Summer Wedding…

Hi lovely peeps 🙂 Have you had a chance to view the previous two posts of today yet? Including my thoughts on what marriage means to me as I reflect on what happened this day three years ago, and an introduction to Still White, a fab new online service supplying pre-used but excellent quality wedding dresses?

This is my final blog post for today – and there's plenty of sun, fun and love in this one. I fell for this wedding for the bride's pretty Claire Pettibone dress and her choice of bridesmaids 50's style frocks and little lace gloves. It all has a kind of cute and kitsch Cath Kidston look about it, all pastel pink and English rose prettiness – and I love it 🙂

This wedding took place on 11 June 2011, at Priory Hall in Hadleigh, Suffolk, UK – say hello to the happy couple Rosie and Steve…

"I wore the Juliet dress, by Claire Pettibone.  I loved Claire Pettibone's dresses  from the moment I saw them in a magazine and knew that I wanted one of hers before I had even seen them in real life.  The Juliet dress was the third dress of hers I tried on and I knew it was the one straight away.

It is a beautiful peachy crwam with soft layers of silk, lace and chiffon, it was elegant yet had a relaxed look and feel, and complemented our vintage feel perfectly…"

"Apart from the flowers, we styled everything ourselves. We’d spent the last two years sourcing afternoon tea crockery from boot fairs and antique shops. We made 3-tier cake stands and served the wine in glass decanters which looked amazing. We made one hundred metres of bunting to decorate around the venue, and our seating plan used an old suitcase. Our table names were based on quotes from our favourite film: Anchorman.

We printed all our own stationery in a vintage style and made matching decanter wine labels, name badges for guests and table names which we displayed in old frames…"

Don't you just love the little touch of the Bridesmaids with lace gloves above?  The bridesmaids all wore 1950's style frocks from Laura Ashley, with coral colour peep toes from Monsoon and flowers in their hair.

"The bride had a cottage next door to the venue so simply walked to the venue but the groom and groomsmen arrived in a 20ft open top white Cadillac from Cool Classic Cars…"

"When it came to favours, for the boys, we brewed Raspberry beer and for the girls will filled jars with fruit sherbets. We topped the jars and bottles with the same material that we used for our bunting…"

Steve wore a blue stonewashed suit from River Island + matching rose print shirt and tie from Marc Wallace of London, blue canvas boating shoes from Topman

"Steve proposed on Christmas morning in his pyjamas with a stinking cold, we had been together about 2 years at the time. We were introduced by my best friend Laura who met Steve through work. Our first date was to a speed dating night which they were reviewing for the magazine they worked on. So we actually dated about 10 other people that same night."

"We hired an Oompah Band for the day who played the bride down the aisle with Canon by Pachebel, and played the wedded couple back up the aisle to Nellie the Elephant! Our Evening band; The Van Goghs were also brilliant. Both were from – Function Junction"

"We both love trawling through car boot sales and bric-a-brac shops for stuff and fell in love with all the pretty vintage crockery that was around at the time so built the rest of our styling around that. We wanted a very laid back day, pimms on the lawn and lots of music so just wanted everything to be pretty but personal to us. We had hulahoops and bowls on the lawn and the inside of the marquee and hall was filled with pretty flowers, bunting and vintage frames and nic-nacs."

"A family friend made an amazing cup cake tower that we used as part of our Afternoon tea for the wedding breakfast.

The groom had spent the previous 12 months brewing one hundred bottles of wine, which got everybody merry and also made a vat of Limoncello for the toasts…"

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

"Enjoy every last minute from all the planning to the day itself because it goes so quickly. Don’t get stressed and do everything exactly how you want to do it rather than how you think you should do it."

Such a sunny, fun, happy looking day 🙂 Congratulations

Such a lovely, happy day! Big congratulations Rosie and Steve 😉 I hope you have an amazing first year anniversary.

Thanks too to Photographer Will Dolphin for sharing these images today…

"We chose Will Dolphin to be our photographer.  We absolutely love the photos Will took for us and cannot thank him enough. We wanted a relaxed and natural style which would suit us and our theme perfectly. Will did just this, documenting our day beautifully…"

What do you think peeps? What about those lovely Laura Ashley frocks, and those pretty lace gloves, or the DIY style table decor and stationery? Are any of your planning a similar look?
