Hi everyone! I hope this welcome finds you well and feeling refreshed after the weekend, though fear not if that isn't quite the case, as I have a day full of inspirational content to ease you back in to the working week, starting with this wedding that was sent in by Award winning Scottish Wedding Photographers Archibald Photography, who are, by the way, always super lovely to deal with. Pauline & David tied the knot on 16th September last year at Lochgreen House Hotel in Ayrshire and Pauline wore the devine 'Clara' dress by Lindsay Fleming, which was inspired by the most iconic twenties style, the 'flapper girl'.

"In typical Scottish style it rained on our wedding day but thankfully we still managed to get a few photos outside with the aid of a plastic 'bird cage' umbrella!"

"I was really keen to keep the twenties theme going with the bridesmaid dresses and trying to find a style that would please my 50 year old sister (Anne) and 20 year old niece (Claire) was a challenge. Grace from Lindsay Fleming kindly agreed to make the dresses for me and the followed a similar style to my dress. We chose a plum coloured satin and crepe with silver embroidery. It worked out really well as the bridesmaids were able to do the dress fittings at the Lindsay Fleming studio in Scotland.
I originally bought Alice bands at a market in Hong Kong. They had purple and crystal flowers on them which were a perfect match with the material we had chosen for the bridesmaid’s dresses but they were on black metal alice bands. Trina at Baba C Designs worked her magic and managed to detach and move the flowers onto a silver band with crystals which looked so much better…"
"We opted to have charity pin badges for the Beatson Pebble Appeal (a University of Glasgow charity to build the Glasgow Centre for Cancer Research). In addition we had a thistle at every place setting in keeping with the thistle on our wedding invitations and orders of ceremony…"
"I wore a gold and amethyst vintage necklace that was in the family. I also had an ivory feather boa and long ivory gloves which added the finishing touches to the twenties look…."
"Grace decorated an ivory handbag with gold embroidery and crystals to match my wedding dress…"
"Our Humanist Ceremony, led by celebrant Gerrie Douglas enabled us to have a very personal wedding whereby we wrote our own vows and included readings and poems (one by Robert Burns and one by Charles Dickens – marking the Ayrshire and London connections). Gerrie was so down to earth and made us feel so relaxed.
We opted to light a unity candle symbolising two lives joining together as one…"
"Troon is close to where I grew up my parents, sister and family live nearby. Lochgreen is a family run business owned by a local hotelier Bill Costley. We have held other special family occasions at Lochgreen and other hotels in the group. The particular aspects which attracted us to Lochgreen House Hotel was the quality of the food and service, the location, the intimacy of the hotel and the opportunity to book the entire venue including all the bedrooms for an “exclusive” wedding package. We had our ceremony in the tapestry room of the hotel…."
"We had crystal candelabras on the tables decorated with ivy and antique roses with plum coloured candles. The candelabras were supplied by Suzie at Bijou Flowers.
The chairs were decorated with purple bows in the same material as the bridesmaid’s dresses. We also had a crystal leaf wishing tree where quests could write messages and hang them on the tree. The message cards were shaped like luggage tags and matched the wedding invitations and order of ceremony. These were the modern thistle design from Wanderlust Cards in Glasgow…."
"We chose Baby I Love You by the Ramones for our first dance. We had been trying to decide on a song for a several months but just couldn’t come up with anything we both agreed on.
We had arranged a weekend in Scotland to visit several of our suppliers and whilst driving around we listened to Tony Blackburn on Radio Two, and we heard the original version of Baby I Love You.
Exactly one week later we were driving up to Hatton Gardens in London to look at wedding rings when the Ramones version of the song was played on the same show – we knew straight away this was fate and it was the right song for our first dance…"

"We chose Mark Archibald as our photographer. We were impressed by the photographs we saw on the Lindsay Fleming website which had been taken by Mark.
We arranged to meet Mark on a visit to Scotland and really liked the wedding albums he showed us. Mark made us feel very relaxed and was keen to understand what we wanted captured on our wedding day. We were particularly keen to have an unobtrusive approach following the story of our day rather than too many set poses.
We have been really pleased with the results."

By the way, I've seen a real Clara wedding dress in the flesh and it is utterly divine; the skirt especially!
