A Love Shoot on Bamburgh Beach…

Hello loves, thanks for your patience this past couple of days, the usual blog post schedule being a bit out of whack and all – let's just say internal blog maintenance has been carried out and we'll be back on track tomorrow.

Now I don't feature all too many engagement, or 'shoots here' as I like to call them, because, well, I guess usually I like to feature more than just a beautiful portrait shot, but every now and then a lovely love shoot comes along that makes me smile so much, just like this one today submitted by my very own wedding photographer, Karen McGowran. Karen took these photographs of Love My Dress reader Scarlet and her fiance Tim, who are due to marry later this year and I just love how they capture the couple looking so relaxed and in love. And besides, those little ankle socks stole my heart 🙂

Having these pre-wedding or 'love shoots' prior to your wedding is a great to get used to relaxing in front of the camera on your wedding day – make sure you ask your photographer if they provide a pre-wedding shoot as part of their package…

"Love My Dress has been a great source of inspiration and aspiration for our day. I have also been cajoling Anna from 'Far From The Wedding Crowd' to help me with my various hunts for items for the wedding, for which she deserves a medal!"

"Tim and I were originally at school together but in different years and met through mutual friends on a night out 10 years ago. It took us a couple of years to properly get together much to the relief of our friends and family. We have now been together for 8 years and Tim finally proposed in May 2010.

When looking for a venue we decided upon Ellingham Hall in Northumberland due to our close family ties {my grandparents and parents both got married there}.

It will also enable us to have a weekend celebration rather than the wedding only lasting one day; we're hoping the wedding will have an electric feel to it.  There were so many different aspects and styles we liked that in trying to incorporate them all, we didn't want to be restricted by a single theme. Maybe on the day it will appear there is a running theme, its hard to imagine what everything will look like together but we do hope to have an abundance of fresh flowers through out the venue.

"Tim was relaxed as usual about the pre wedding shoot but I was a bit nervous and needed a bit of persuasion from Karen. On the day she made the whole experience feel so special and relaxed! We knew straight away we would like the images to be taken on Bamburgh beach as its such a stunning setting and we have spent many a summer there. We wanted the images to have a vintage feel to them, so decided to go all out and get dressed up.

After much deliberation to find the right dress for the shoot (it was like the bridal dress hunt all over again) I stumbled across it in a Next seconds store. Its actually a child's bridesmaid dress but thought it would be perfect for the soft vintage look we were going for.

As usual Tim just threw his outfit together effortlessly, why is its so much easier for men? :)"
