In my final of 3 posts this weekend, where I hope to champion the independent vintage wedding fair movement {see here and here}, I'm excited to bring to you this afternoon images from the Most Curious Wedding Fair that was held on 31st March at York Hall in East London.

The Most Curious Wedding Fair is a new breed of wedding fair which ensures exhibitors have beautiful, elegant offerings alongside fun, quirky, show-stopping elements that allow the bride and her groom to express personality with flair on their big day.

Exhibitors {a full list of which can be viewed here} included beautiful antique and repro wedding and bridesmaid dresses from all eras, vintage style stationery, professional hair and makeup stylists specialising in era inspired looks, knock out large cakes or cute cupcakes, sassy photographers, creative florists, sublime to statement jewellery, millinery and accessories, vintage crockery and decorations, retro hen do packages and cheeky, vintage-esque underwear that would make Joan Holloway proud!

I popped into the fair myself {that's me below!}, albeit briefly, along with photographer Ashton Jean-Pierre, who had just shot these personal images earlier in the afternoon on Columbia Road.

It really was a beautifully curious and immensely fun wedding fair, a little bit of vintage meets burlesque glamour, it was thrilling to see the two genres collide and celebrate in style.  The vibe was really upbeat and lively and the crowd of visiting brides to be really seemed to be enjoying the fun-filled atmosphere. For me personally too, it was fab to see friends and industry colleagues photographer Laura McCluskey and Iain Bartlett who is at the helm of London based HelloLucky! offices, as well as Helena Taylor and, albeit from afar as I had so little time, the lovely Minna!

Following the huge success of the launch event, the organisers decided to host two further events in Norwich and East London, involving over 80 exhibitors that were expertly hand-picked to ensure a non-judgemental attitude, a love of vintage style, creativity, bespoke services, individuality and just down-right beautiful weddings!  A full list of suppliers who were in attendance on the say is here

I with to organiser Becky Hoh-Hale, owner of A Most Curious Party, and who's wedding has featured on Love My Dress

"We had a blast at the London Most Curious Wedding Fair and just loved seeing over one thousand two hundred cool looking brides and grooms coming through the door, eyes all a wonder as they clocked the fifty plus stands of creative, crafty, design, fashion and vintage led suppliers all under one roof for them!"

"It was everything we wanted it to be and more and despite all of the above the best thing always is seeing brides squealing (and sometimes even grooms, forgetting themselves and cracking an approving smile) when they find something they were looking for or something they couldn’t quite put their finger on till they saw it, or realise there is someone out there who can help them achieve an idea which currently only exists in their head! That after all is what the Most Curious Wedding Fair is all about…."

"We loved the fashion shows too and enjoyed the silence that fell as the four ballet dancers began the choreographed piece for the first show which featured shorter style gowns from Lily & Louie, Vivien of Holloway, Harlequin Fox and a couple of vintage pieces from Glory Days Vintage The flower girls wore Thumbelina dresses with Vivien of Holloway showing some floral and fun adult bridesmaid dress options.

The second show showcased one of our absolute favourite current bridal designers Minna alongside authentic vintage pieces from Glory Days Vintage, Unforgettable Vintage Bridal Gowns, Lulu Vintage, Frida Larsen’s Vintage with to die for feathered fans from Britten Weddings. Minna also supplied the flower girl dresses and veils too. Shoes were from uber cool designer Charlotte Staniland…."

"Our highlights were mainly paper based this fair! from the Paper Craft workshops (which never seemed to stop!) from Moll and Mostin to Suzi McLaughlin’s laser and hand cut bouquets and love story books.

Gemma Goodwin’s gorgeous Paper cut poster for the fair, seen on florist’s Love Blooms stand also stood out and we loved Little Pen’s cute and punchy stationery as well as Hello Lucky’s great range and friendly charm…"

"The last show was all about the honey moon, both night and day! With vintage negligee from Lulu vintage and the piece de la resistance being 40s meets East London cool designer Tara Starlet launching its new range of lingerie and kimonos at the fair. They also showed some day wear options to wave your guests goodbye in, along side brighton based Get Cutie’s patterned print dresses too.

For all fashion shows the Make up was put together by the Glam it with Mac team and the hair by vintage specialists Deco Dolls, who put together an editorial more fashion forward take on 1940s rolls. Super creative bespoke florists Love Blooms supplied the bouquets, head circlets, flower girl posies in jam jars and general floral wonderfulness! Most Curious assistant stylist Gemma Goodwin art directed the shows and creative textile expert Amie Farr styled the final looks on the day…"

"And who could forget the entertainment, a whole day of burlesque, cabaret, music and tease from some of the UK’s great performers including 50s and 60s vinyl guru DJ Jazzlord as well as the very cute and very talented Old Time String Band, husband and wife duo who play jazz, blues, and general foot stompin tunes…"

"The cabaret was supplied by Volupte, London’s decadent supper club who also put on great afternoon tea hen dos. From their amazing performers list we were lucky enough to have cheeky compere Dave the Bear, Scarlett Cuff’s fan dance, Burlesque dancer Miss Amaritease, amazing hula hooper Chloe Hannah Lloyd and of course the lady with fire work boobies Miss Dolly Blow Up!"

Yes, you read that right people, her boobs, well, kind of set alight…! 🙂

What a fun day!   I hear the event organisers are gearing up for opening the list for the Autumn Fairs -  further details of which can be sought by contacting Becky Hoh-Hale via her website at Most Curious Wedding Fair. You can also follow the event group on Facebook.

I had to include the gorgeous imagery by Joanna Millington Photography in this feature that was used to promote the fair, as it's too yummy to miss – it included work by some of the exhibitors at the event…
