Shades of Pastel Pretty for a Downton Abbey Inspired Photoshoot…

Good afternoon my lovelies!  And what a gorgeous afternoon it is where I am, I mean, crazy crazy weather this week, first intense rain, sleet, hail, then huge clumps of snow, wind, and now back to sun and pure, beautiful blue skies again?! The UK can't make it's mind up!

It's feels like a pastel day to me today. I don't know – as Easter approaches my head fills with memories of pastel coloured eggs at school when I was younger and brings a strange sense of familiarity and comfort. And a massive strong urge to eat lots of chocolate {tick! …did that this morning}.

This pastel pretty photo-shoot inspired by the hit TV series Downton Abbey comes to you by way of a fabulous team of suppliers {see end of the feature} who know how to create glamorous, gorgeous, elegant and pretty – perfect for Love My Dress

Photographer Lissa Alexandra talks us through the inspiration…

"Helen Guy (make up artist) asked me if I'd like to be involved in a themed bridal shoot at the stunning Sewerby Hall & Garden in Bridlington. After a few emails and a supplier's meeting our theme was established as 'Downton Abbey in Pastels'. With the popularity of the TV series and the gorgeous pastel fashion at the moment we hoped this shoot would be right on trend…"

"Helen sourced the models and gradually others suppliers came on board. Myself, Helen and Rachel (from Simply Vintage Events) went to see Kelly at Atken Bridal Gallery and she very kindly gave us the choice of all her dresses.

We were like children in a sweet shop, she had sooo many lovely dresses to choose from, we were very spoilt! I think the favourites on the day were the pastel bridemaids dresses, they were perfect for the shoot and so different!"

"After a visit to Sewerby Hall I created a storyboard of photographic scenes to shoot. Whilst doing this I came up with the idea of using my Grandma's dog, Lucy the Lurcher! I thought she'd be perfect for the theme and the shot of Jess (the model) with her is my favourite.

The day went so fast and was really good fun, unfortunately we didn't get time to do all the planned shots but everyone was happy with what we got. There were lots of suppliers involved and I was really pleased with the selection as everyone's product complimented each others perfectly. I hope this collection of photographs will inspire lots of lovely brides to be with their wedding ideas and fall in love with the prettiness of pastels!"
