The Silhouette Collection by Circa Vintage Brides…

Good morning everyone.  I do love it when a new bridal wear collection offers something fresh and exciting, especially when it pays homage to the beautiful silhouettes of previous era dress design {I'm a bit obsessed with the bridal fashions of the past few decades} and this morning, Circa Vintage Brides is ticking all these boxes.

Circa Vintage Brides was one of the first bridal wear brands I ever featured on Love My Dress and rather excitingly, they have just launched a brand new 'Silhouette’ Collection for 2012/13.  The collection is available via appointment only at the recently opened boutique in Richmond {see map and address details at end of feature} but judging by the images below, I'd be prepared to travel the length and breadth of the country to try some of these beauties on.

Designer Astral Sundholm-Hayes, who spent her childhood  dressing up in antique clothes as her mother ran Vintage shops in London in the 1970’s & 80’s whilst her father toured with his band, has combined references of past decades with strong lines and delicate details and provided a modern interpretation of 'vintage' with this sophisticated contemporary collection.

Possibly one of my favourite designs is this exciting new collection is the exquisite 'Isla' cape…

Years of hands on experience with antique clothes led designer Astral to take her love of fashion and textiles to the next level and she chose to study Fashion at Chelsea school of Art and Winchester School of Art.  The idea to create Circa Vintage Brides came to her when her boutique saw a huge number of brides looking for vintage wedding dresses who were often disappointed with the real thing due to the fit and condition.  Having spent years sourcing original antique and vintage clothing for her clients, Astral new she had something special to offer so established the Circa Vintage Brides brand in 2006 to meet demand.

I adore the movement evident in these beautiful dresses.  The designs are cut on the bias to create a beautiful fluidity in the silk and satin fabric  All the dresses are created using either silk satin, silk georgette, silk crepe, silk taffeta and delicate lace – and every one of them is carefully lined using silk.

The collection sees a number of styles to suit every bride, from long length gowns to midi with references of 1960's baby doll, such as the 'Lizzie' design below…

The aptly named 'Bianca', a fabulous 1970's inspired trouser suit.

Beautiful brides, will one of you get married in this suit so that I can feature more 'trouser suit' posts?

Sleeves lengths include short sleeve, sleeveless, strappy and a cap sleeve to give brides a variety of choices for this special purchase.

I'm totally in love with 'Lou', the 1960’s inspired bias cut poncho long train bridal cape with a central cut out to allow it to go over the head and reveal the back. The cape covers the shoulders and the front bust to conceal the dress detail below for the wedding entrance and the long train extends the silhouette of the bride as she walks forward with classic lines and elegance…

'Eddie' is a late 1920’s inspired long luxurious silhouette bias cut wedding gown with beautiful delicate scalloped lace across the bust and back, set into silk satin straps that descend over the lace to the waist.

The skirt of the gown is bias silk satin which skims the hips and flutes out to the floor with long bias train.

Exquisite…

Lilly is a 1970’s inspired ethereal full length empire line wedding dress in silk georgette edged with silk satin.  The bust is constructed from georgette triangles with fine double spaghetti straps which open as they pass the shoulders to the back and the top dress layer is cut on the bias with the satin point finishing at the front hem..
