‘The Notebook’ Inspired Engagement Shoot…

Morning all 😉 Lots to pack in on the blog today so an extra few visual treats for you! Keep your eyes peeled.  Did you all get sight of the fab new beauty tutorial video yesterday {that, ahem, only Etsy have asked to feature!}, or this gorgeous Polly Alexandre wedding? And have you read this call-out on my Facebook page, because I'm looking for some people to assist me on a very special, very exciting photoshoot next month and I'm opening up the opportunity to you!

I really like this set of engagement shoot photographs, that were submitted by Photographer Emma Lucy, and that features soon to be newlyweds Ashley and Charlotte.  Ashley and Charlotte both love and were inspired by the movie The Notebook – you know, that wonderful tear jerker of a film that you simply  must watch if you haven't yet, especially if you're an incurable romantic like me!

I think what wins me over the most with these images if the absolute sense of comfort and relaxation this couple display so beautifully, being in each others company and in front of the camera. The look of love, if ever there was one. It makes me feel happy looking at these photographs and seeing the couple so clearly in love. I like that. I like that a lot…

"Ashley and I have been together for nearly ten years, and I waited nine of those for him to pop the question! We are only 24, so to begin a relationship at 14 meant we were still kind of big kids! But we grew up together, we know each other inside out and created some amazing memories along the years.

Ashley isnt a typical romantic but the proposal blew me away…."

"On holiday at his parents villa in spain he packed a picnic (just ham sandwiches – bless) and hid a bottle of champagne in a towel in our beach bag. He took me down to the beach at sunset when and proposed after saying how much in love he was.

I was so shocked. I laughed, then cried, then laughed again! It really was prefect I was so happy with the ring – nice and simple, not over the top.

We cant wait to get married in summer 2013. He speaks about it all the time and watches dont tell the bride every week without fail 🙂 xxxx"

Photographer Emma Lucy Photography  also told me more about this shoot – how it came about and what it meant to her to shoot it…

"When Charlotte and Ash won a competition I ran last year I was so touched by their engagement story. This amazing couple have been together since they were 14 and were soon to be celebrating their 10 year anniversary. I'd asked Charlotte if there was somewhere special in London to them both or if there was a film that they both liked. She came back to me and said that the two of them absolutely love The Notebook so I set to work pinning and getting some inspiration. I have to admit I had never seen the film but when I sat down to watch half an hour just to check out the style I got engrossed and ended up sitting up until 2am to watch the rest of it! What a beautiful film…"

"I had originally planned to do this shoot in Hyde Park so we could make use of the boating lake but as the lake is shut this time of year we decided to relocation to Hampstead Heath. I never really had a vision for this shoot to go all out and recreate the film but I did want to nod towards it. This, of course, meant the right look for Charlotte. So, I enlisted the help of the ever amazing Joyce at Brides and Beauty who, I think you'll agree, did an amazing job with Charlotte's make up. I also bought a few props along – a pile of envelopes I dipped in tea and an easel!

We set the shoot on the weekend of Charlotte and Ash's 10 year anniversary. I spent a wonderful few hours with these guys and though it was a cold day my heart was so warmed by these two…."
