A 1940s Inspired Engagement Shoot ~ Boyd and Ellie…

Something a little different this afternoon, a delightful 1940's inspired engagement shoot sent in by photographer and all-round lovely lady, Jordanna Marston, featuring the lovely Ellie and Boyd ahead of their wedding day {I'll be featuring that too!}…

"I have always loved the 1940's and anything vintage I believe I was born in the wrong decade. The clothes, the hair do’s, the music; anything that evokes the vintage wartime feel gets me excited! I feel totally at home getting dressed up and attending Molesworth hangar dance with my victory rolls, lined stockings and red lipstick! So when I got engaged I instantly knew that I wanted to be a wartime bride in 2012.

My fiancé Boyd is a good sport and indulges, and often shares, my love of vintage so he agreed to have a vintage inspired engagement shoot…"

1940s inspired engagement shoot...

"Boyd has known the photographer, Jordanna for a long time, since school, and recommended her as our wedding photographer. When I saw her pictures I knew she was right for us. Jordanna has an eye for a perfect picture and seems to know exactly what we want. Each of her pictures holds something special and captures the 40’s era in a 2012 setting perfectly.

We chose to have the shoot at Brampton Station on the Northampton and Lamport Railway. The old station platform and train carriages evoked a feeling of good old fashioned times gone by and the surrounding Northamptonshire countryside and cosy pub, Brampton Halt, provided us with plenty of fabulous photo opportunities…"

"I wore a vintage inspired polka dot tea dress teamed with my fur coat, t-bar dance shoes and victory rolls, I felt the part. Boyd dressed in chinos, a shirt and a jumper and he looked very handsome! Despite it being a freezing day the shoot was really good fun and we all had a good giggle…"

1940s inspired engagement shoot...

"The lead up to the wedding has been so exciting for both of us, the engagement shoot being the highlight. I am especially going to miss looking for inspiration and reading all of the wonderful wedding blogs (especially Love My Dress), tucking away and coveting ideas, and attending countless vintage fairs with a purpose collecting tea cups, jewellery and vintage items to use as props in the photos and to decorate the venue.

BUT despite that I can’t wait for the day itself to be here, me and Boyd getting married with all our friends and family there, and a culmination of all of our lovely things – the bridesmaids circle dresses, the bunting and button bouquets, a vintage inspired wedding dress, a retired red London bus…. the list goes on!"
