Bridal Inspiration Board #43 ~ Jubilations…

It's Friday inspiration board time! Regular contributor, wedding planner and stylist Michelle Kelly of Pocketful of Dreams is painting the place red white and blue this morning – tack free style…

Happy Friday folks,

This week it seems only fitting to provide you with a Queen's Jubilee inspired mood board, as everywhere I turn I see the whole of the UK preparing for celebrations and jubilations!

But I do have to admit something here.

Despite being a party planner, I have failed somewhat to get into the party spirit. Most of what I have seen so far in terms of commemorative or Jubilee inspired memorabilia has left me feeling somewhat cold and as regular Love My Dress readers will know I don't really do garish and tacky.

So this week's board is my last-ditch attempt to inject some stylish inspiration into planning a good ol' British knees up, with a few ideas to steal for your wedding too…

Jubilations

I'd love to see more brides donning a statement headpiece, this red organza number would be a real head-turner and look stunning against your crisp white gown.

Flags are a great way of adding a colourful impact to any space, if you're planning a wedding and have a large space to decorate why not consider designing your own flag. Using anything from pretty fabrics to your own wedding monogram.

Red, white and blue are a great choice for florals with so many flower combinations possible. My advice to keep the look slick and stylish would be to have lots of arrangements filled with a single colour rather than mixing them up. You have an endless choice of British-inspired vessels to play with from old teapots to tea tins to toby jugs. Seek out those in your colour-scheme to keep the look co-ordinated.

For the maids I'd suggest a very simple cut dress in the boldest blue, letting their loose-arrangement bouquets take centre stage. You could subtly add in nods to the British theme with quirky union jack jewellery pieces, like those teapot lockets above.

Fill party bags with classic British sweets such as pear drops and go to town on a homespun dessert table full of British classics like this modern take on Eton Mess made with fresh berries, meringue and creme fraiche. Mmmm.  Washed down of course with jugs and jugs of Pimm's.

If you're after some bank holiday food and drink ideas, head on over to Pocketful of Dreams blog this afternoon as I have a tasty tipple and treat to share with you. And folks don't miss this rather stylish Rob Ryan Jubilee bunting to download on the Stylist magazine website, it's all sorts of gorgeous.

Whatever you're up to this long bank-holiday weekend I wish you a fabulous time full of jubilation.
