Grace Kelly by David Fielden and Long Lace Gloves for a Stylish Scottish Bride…

Morning all, a lovely wedding to share this morning, that of Iain and Andrea, who tied the knot on 3 December last year, with a ceremony at St Mary's Church in Kelso, Scotland, followed by a reception at Ednam House.

Lucky Andrea wore the beautiful 'Grace Kelly' wedding dress design by David Fielden and a beautiful pair of long lace gloves by Cornelia James, a very graceful and elegant combo I think you'll agree…

I wanted lace. Tried on lots of dresses, all really gorgeous, slinky/ fitting style. When I narrowed it down I thought – it’s a church wedding, when am I going to be able to go all out.

When I tried on the Grace dress by David Fielden for the second time I just felt like a princess, and kept spinning around!"

"Get Knotted created our flowers .  I have a passion for interior design, so did all the research myself on the style, and then emailed a few florists in the area, and met up with them at Easter 2011.

Lindsey was great and we hit it off. I didn’t want it to be a conservatory, or the weddings we’ve all seen before with tall vases, bunting etc. I played on the winter theme and had seen the branches with hanging tea lights, and thought this would create a lovely warmth to the room. Lindsey suggested the lights around the room, branches in pots, which I thought would be too much, but when I walked into the room it all took my breath away. Exactly as I had imagined it..."

"We made a whole weekend of our wedding day. Most guests arrived Friday night, and we went to one of the local pubs in Kelso for a meal – great way to relax before the big day. Saturday was the wedding.

Sunday we went to the races at Kelso – so perfect, was very excited when we booked the wedding to find out there was the last race day of the year the day after our wedding. Was such a lovely end to a perfect weekend.

We then headed up to North Berwick for three nights, before returning home and then heading off to South America for 3.5 weeks to Peru and Ecuador!"

"We looked at three different areas – Scottish borders, as Iain’s parents live there, Midlands – as we live in Leamington Spa, and Kent – as my parents live Tunbridge Wells. Criteria for venue was capacity for 100+ and no marquee. We narrowed it down to a venue in midlands and Ednam House.

We chose Ednam House as the wedding was always to be Scottish theme, so we felt why not make a weekend of celebrations in Scotland.

"A friend of a friend made our cake – it had to be chocolate!  I didn’t want an over the top cake, as felt it was money wasted. Just a simple three tier squared chocolate cake with ribbon to match the bridesmaid dresses, and lace over the top slightly narrower to bring in my dress.

I made the figurines from two wooden clothes pegs! Using my lace and Iain’s tartan…"

"We hired a traditional ceilidh band, Clarty Cloot, with excellent caller, to help the uninitiated. He was very inclusive and everyone got involved! The last hour was Iain’s hour. He had put some tunes together of some favourites of his and his nearest and dearest.

Our first dance was to the song Soldier Girl, by The Polyphonic Spree…"

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

"Don’t stress, it isn’t difficult there is a world of ideas out there, lots of wedding blogs, pinterest, magazines etc. Most importantly enjoy it! As the day goes so quickly.

One tip, get a really good photographer and it’s wonderful to look back at your special day captured by great photos…."

Huge thanks to Sam and Lindsay at Mirrorbox Photography for these images…

"We wanted a relaxed, natural and informal photos, with the classic family formal shots some of which had a bit of fun thrown in.  Sam and Lindsay were great, really friendly and great ideas. Also went above and beyond, staying longer than expected to capture the fireworks and ceilidh."

And that just leaves me to ask if we have any more stylish David Fielden brides in tnhe house, and if so, which dress have you gone for?
