How did you get into designing and producing wedding stationery?
I was already a professional designer of 11 years, and have my own illustration agent who I still work with to produce gift cards for the likes of the V&A and John Lewis.
Like many designers I created my own wedding stationery and then initially for friends and family. But last year I decided that if i was going to do it properly I needed to concentrate on it full time so I launched the new site and designs in February. What do you love about your profession?
I love that even in this digital age you just can’t beat the tactile quality of beautiful paper. A beautifully considered wedding invitation that drops through your door is a wonderful thing. Also I have met so many creative and inspiring individuals in the wedding industry that it’s a joy to be a part of it all…
What inspires you when it comes to your work?
Rummaging in bric-a-brac shops, a beautiful piece of lace on an old bridal gown, vintage wallpapers and sweet heart postcards…
I also love fashion and always keep a keen eye on trends to see how they might translate into my stationery. But honestly, anything can inspire me! Recently, I was at Pizza Express and noticed a striped black and white paper cup they had on the table and thought it would be great worked into an invitation as part of the Miss Plum range…
How would you describe your signature style?
Authentic vintage, floral, pretty but not prissy or twee! with a fresh an modern twist. More sophisticated than shabby chic. Octavia Plum brides are looking for beautfully designed and premium quality products at reasonable prices and a personal service and that’s what I offer…
Can you provide a price guide?
Invitations are supplied with premium quality envelopes and are £2.80 each, for digital, or £3.10 for the litho printed designs. That is my guide price but I like to give each client a bespoke price, based on their specific requirements, so I can genuinely offer them the best possible price.
I want to be able to give as many couples as possible beautiful wedding stationery for their wedding day so I’m always happy to work with clients to fit their budget…
I’ve recently been included as part of Time Out’s London wedding guide which I am very excited about. And I’ve got a notonthehighstreet shop too which launched in January and also does baby announcement stationery and thank you cards, as well as some exclusive new products to be launched soon. So watch this space!
