Some of my fondest memories from our wedding day are of the dancing. From the moment the music struck up, my daughter was glued to the floor of the huge candelit ballroom. For much of the night, she unknowingly led the crowed in a jubilant dance routine. They struggled to keep up with her precisely timed moves as they tried to emulate her well rehearsed routine to Lady Gaga's 'Bad Romance'.
We had but a humble Ipod to help us fill the dance floor with revellers, but I'd have loved to have been able to enjoy some live music had there been a little more give in our budget. 'We want to play a part in making your wedding day special. Whether you want to book us to be light background music for the drinks reception, or full on evening entertainment, we will ensure all the details are sorted prior to your wedding so we do not disturb you on the day. We can even, with notice, colour coordinate our belts and gloves to suit your theme. We always provide PA and suitable themed backing music for between sets for any event, and we can also go out with a live band for that extra authentic feel!"
Where are you located and how far will you travel?
'We are based just outside Milton Keynes, but will gladly travel anywhere. We have recently returned from a fantastic vintage wedding in Cyprus, where we were lucky to work with the wonderful Eliza Claire.'
The Memphis Belles were started by Claire after a very successful career within the entertainment industry.
'I have been lucky to perform at some of the most prestigious venues, theatres and events within my career. I have always adored the music of the 40's and 50's, and I wanted to breathe new life into the music from this period. It seems I am not the only one who loves the sound, style and glamour of this era!'
What do you love about performing at weddings?
'Weddings are such happy events! We adore the feeling that performing at a wedding gives. We make sure all the fine lines are sorted before the day, including any songs the couple may like/dislike or first dances. If we don't already have the song in our repertoire, we aim to learn it in time for the performance. This all ensures the day goes smoothly and that the couple are relaxed whilst we perform, which keeps the smile on our faces!'
What inspires you when it comes to your work?
'Oh that's a difficult question as we are doing what we love! I guess it all comes down to ensuring everyone is happy. If the clients are happy, we are!'
Can you provide a price guide?
'Prices Start from £650 and are all dependant on venue, times and location. Please get in touch so we can discuss a quote.'
If you weren't all performing, what would you be doing?
'Performing is our lives so this is tough! We do love to meet outside of the Belles and we enjoy visiting vintage events (even if we are not performing at them), finding beautiful locations to take photos, and visiting our favourite vintage shops for costumes and new tips on hair and makeup.'
Oh, I would simply love to attend an event where these ladies were playing! What a wonderful way to sprinkle a little extra vintage magic on your wedding day.
