I'm not going to lie, when Annabel excitedly informed me that Artcadia had come on board as a brand new Love My Dress sponsor, I could hardly contain my glee. What's more, I've been looking forward to introducing them to you ever since.

You see, I'm a little paper obsessed…

Artcadia Letterpress Wedding Stationery

Picking out the invitations and 'day of' stationery for our January wedding was one of my favourite tasks out of the whole planning process. I lost myself in regular daydreams about pretty paper and beautiful typography. The deliberations consumed me for weeks and, if I miss anything about organising our day, it's having an excuse to pore over the various stationery websites I became obsessed with in the run up to the wedding.

If someone had brought them to my attention back then, Artcadia would certainly have been high on my list of suppliers to lust over. It's the letterpress that gets me you see. Those delicate indentations on the page and the way the ink seems to caress the paper. It's enough to make me swoon every time.

So, before I completely lose myself in a paper reverie, let me introduce you to the husband and wife team behind Artcadia

Who are you and what do you do?

'We're Vici-Jane and Richard Kohring and we make fantastic wedding invitations and 'day of' stationery to fully co-ordinate with a couple's wedding style.

'In addition to flat digital printing, we specialise in letterpress printing. Our letterpress ranges are made here at Artcadia on our antique presses. We also offer a print only service for those who have created or commissioned their own design.'

The couple run their business from a small design studio in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, but as they are an online business they are able to work with clients worldwide.

How did the business come about?

'As with most industry folk, we were completely oblivious to the wedding market until getting married ourselves. We had an awful time sourcing a company who could deliver something unique for our own stationery, so the idea was born. I'm from a graphic design background and had volunteered in a local Victorian printers since I was 14, so I had some amount of expertise in letterpress printing. Together Richard and I have collected antique presses for some years, lovingly restored them, and we now use them every day in our business.'

What do you love about your work?

'We both get a warm fuzzy feeling when we complete an order we're happy with. Although our work is quite physically and mentally demanding, we get to work round the clock together which is what we've both wanted for some time.'

What inspires you when it comes to your work? Are there any designers/artists you particularly admire?

'We try not to be inspired by other stationers. Hopefully this means what we offer is a little different. We both love art and design and are particularly fond of Swedish, Scandinavian and Russian folk art. This is reflected in the decor of our home and work place and sometimes finds its way subtly into our designs.'

What’s special about Artcadia and what sets you apart from other wedding stationery designers?

'We do put a lot of focus on quality of materials. A great design can be spoilt by poor printing and flimsy papers, we have spent a great deal of time sourcing fantastic stocks which bring our designs to life in a way that is luxurious, robust and beautiful. We also have strong eco credentials ensuring our stocks and work methods are as environmentally friendly as paper goods can be.'
