A Pretty Tea Length Wedding Dress and Daisies…

Morning lovely people! I really hope you've had a lovely weekend and that it brought some rest and relaxation for you all.

It's a brand new week and we have a lot to share with you over the next five days.  This lovely wedding was submitted by photographer Naomi Goggin and pictures bride and groom Katy and Joe on their wedding day on 23rd June 2012 at Brobury House and Gardens in Herefordshire…

"We met at college but were friends for about six years before we started courting! (although Joe fancied me the whole time but he denies that now). 

Joe proposed to me at Glastonbury festival in our tent. He had been planning to propose on our five year anniversary which was a couple of weeks later but spontaneously asked me in the tent. We got married exactly a year after he proposed."

"My dress was Justin Alexander 8465 in ivory. I bought it from White Minx Boutique in Hereford.I
knew that I wanted a tea-length dress because I didn’t want anything
too formal and I thought it would be fun. My dress was the second dress
that I tried on and my mum and I audibly gasped when the lady brought it
out because it was so beautiful!"

"We decided on a yellow and ivory colour scheme for the
bridesmaid’s dresses, flowers, decorations and ties, as I love daisies
and wanted a bit of a daisy theme throughout."

"Our florist was an independent florist based in Hay on Wye called
Caroline Meredith. I didn’t really give her much of a brief, I just told
her our colour scheme and that I wanted an informal, just picked, feel
to the flowers and that I wanted daisies to be included in them and she
did the rest.

She did such an amazing job – I absolutely loved my
bouquet."

"Our invitations and table plan were designed by Nicholas Stevenson, who is a friend of ours and also an amazing illustrator"

"My mum made the cake! She’s really creative and arty so I thought
it would be easy but I didn’t realise what a huge job it was going to be
to make a cake for about 120 people!

I saw a picture of a three tiered,
heart shaped, sponge cake decorated with flowers, in a magazine and
asked her if she would have a go at re-creating it for me. I think it
ended up consuming most of her weekends and evenings in the month
leading up to the wedding and she was so worried about it. But in the
end it was absolutely beautiful and tasted amazing! She even hand-made
sugar flowers to decorate it with (with some help from her friend
Helen)."

"My vision for our wedding was an intimate summer garden party with
loads of flowers everywhere. Joe is a bit more of a traditionalist
though and wanted more people and a grander venue. Brobury House was a
good compromise as it is a beautiful building with stunning gardens and
we were able to have a civil ceremony in one of the rooms of the house
and the reception and dance in a marquee in the garden. Unfortunately
the weather was pretty awful on the day so I don’t think many people got
to enjoy the garden!"

"We were so lucky to have our photographer, Naomi Goggin
as our wedding photographer; she is the girlfriend of a friend of Joe’s
and just so happens to be an absolute genius! I could not be more
grateful for her incredible photography. Everybody that has seen her
photographs has commented that they are really unique and beautiful. I
hadn’t realised until after the wedding how important they would be as
the day is such an adrenaline fuelled whirlwind that it was all a blur
until Naomi’s photos brought it all back."

"I opted for fresh flowers in my hair to keep with the flower theme…"

"My shoes were from Rachel Simpson Shoes.
I actually ended up buying two pairs the same because I was advised to
practice our first dance in them to make sure that I was able to, and I
ended up with a load of Joe’s shoe polish all over the first pair!"

"The younger bridesmaids wore shoes from Rainbow Club
–  and my chief bridesmaid (Bec) wore her own sandals. I told her I
didn’t mind what shoes she wore as long as she wasn’t taller than me (my
only diva demand of the day!)"

"We hired a band called &U&I (tto play the wedding dance.
Their usual style is pretty hardcore metal but they do covers for
weddings and even allowed us to make requests prior to the wedding. They
were really brilliant and all the guests loved them and even asked for
an encore! After they finished, a couple of our friends DJ’d for us"

               

"We had fireworks at the end of the night because my birthday is 3rd
November and I always have fireworks on my birthday and I just love
them!"

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

"Aaaah! I don’t think
I’m very wise, even after having done it all… I guess just don’t be
afraid to do things your own way. Don’t worry about trying to please
everybody because you never will so just do what makes you and your
groom happy.  Joe would also like to include his groom’s words of wisdom!
He says that during the wedding planning process try to take your time.  Don’t try to get everything done at once, as it will just stress you
out. Take each job one at a time.

I enjoyed every single part of our day. I loved getting
ready in the morning with my bridesmaids and my family, and my mum
helping me get into my dress; we just had a real laugh. I loved walking
down the aisle and seeing Joe’s face and saying our vows. I really
really loved the food!!! The evening reception was a complete riot with
everyone dancing. I just remember feeling incredibly happy all day long
and smiling constantly. It was just so lovely to have all our favourite
people in one place for the day and everyone be so happy – we
honestly can’t think of anything that we would have done differently (a
part from perhaps having it on a different day when the weather was
better!)."

Such a lovely lovely day, lovely dress and gorgeous relaxed vibe.
