Indian Gods and Goddesses for a Beautiful Jenny Packham Bride…

Good morning Friday people 🙂 I am so ready for the weekend already! But not before a final week day full of loveliness.  By the way, did you get time to catch up with our late afternoon post of yesterday?

Sam and Joe tied the knot on 28th July in Somerset, UK.  The couple tied the knot in the church in the village that Sam's Mum lives now, followed by a marquee in the garden.

Sam wore a gorgeous one-shoulder wedding dress by Jenny Packham – a purchase from Harrods in London just 3 weeks before her wedding day…

"I had an awful experience with the dress.  I was getting it made
but, a long way into the process, it became obvious the company didn’t
have the expertise to make the agreed design.  So I was left with no
dress 3 weeks before I was due to leave London for Somerset to make the
final preparations for the wedding.  I was very lucky and found this
Jenny Packham,
dress in Harrods at the last minute.

I can’t say I got that feeling
you are supposed to get, that ‘it’s the one’ feeling but I thought it
suited me and the occasion and needed to buy something.  But then on the
day I felt amazing in it.  It was perfect."

"We used names of Gods and Godesses as the table names because we have
now quit our jobs and are going on an adventure around India, Sri Lanka,
Bhutan, Nepal, Tibet and Mongolia for most of a year.  The idea was
they would keep us safe on our journey!"

"I absolutely loved what Frances, my hair stylist,
did with our hair and would really recommend her to anyone.  She lives
in the same village as my Mum and came over to the house rather than us
going to her which made it less stressful on the day.  I was worried
about finding someone who would understand what sort of thing I wanted
rather than ending up like I had just walked out of the 80s.  But as
soon as I met Frances my fears were allayed."

"My bridesmaids dresses were from Oasis. I was going to try to do
the mismatched bridesmaids look but it didn’t seem to work.  Perhaps you
need more than two for it to look right."

"The button holes and bouquets were done by Common Farm Flowers
and we did all the other flowers ourselves with the help of friends.
We bought some flowers via someone in the village who owns a florist but
we grew a lot ourselves and were donated quite a lot from peoples
gardens locally."

"We wanted to bring the outside in and used loads of ivy.  In a way I
wish I had used more but it took quite a long time collecting it all."

"We absolutely loved our photographers, Pen and Cam of McKinley Rodgers, and would not
hesitate to recommend them to anyone.  We are quite camera shy and can
look quite stiff in photos but they managed to get us looking relaxed,
happy and natural.

We hardly knew they were there most of the day and
when we did it was a pleasure to be around them, they are great fun.  We
are so pleased with the photos."

"We hired a covers band called The In Laws who were excellent and really got everyone, not that they needed any encouragement."We danced to The Clash – I Fought the Law.  We didn’t want a slow
dance, we wanted something fun and upbeat that we could spin around to
which is why we chose this track.

"I got a statement cocktail ring from one of the concessions at Topshop,
I can’t remember to name of the brand.  I was originally going to spend
more money but I saw it just before the wedding and thought it would be
perfect.  I got the rose quartz earrings from ECONE
I wore my Mum’s engagement ring from her first marriage to my Dad
because we never got round to getting an engagement ring and in the end
decided not to."

"I walked down the aisle to The Rolling Stones Beast of Burden but
played on the organ.  It worked really well.  The cords are perfect.  We
walked out to Bob Dylan The Man in Me which I think sounded good but by
that point I wasn’t really listening to the music, I was just excited
and talking to everyone on the way out!"

"We loved the idea of our wedding being somewhere personal rather than a venue
and I have grown up mostly in the West Country so, although I have never
lived at this house (they bought it a few years ago), I feel very at
home in the area…"

"Instead of an official cake we had a cake competition.  We had
around 25 entries and it was great fun.  We had rosettes for 1st, 2nd
and 3rd and a cup for the winner."

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

"Be clear about what
feel and atmosphere you want and stick to it.  Also make sure you invite
who you want there, people can get very pushy but it’s your day.

And be
very careful if you are getting a dress made, make sure you find someone with a great portfolio who you feel you can trust – it can be very stressful
otherwise."

Such a lovely day and such a lovely dress – so nice to see a bride look so fabulous in something a little different.

You know, Pen and Cam McKinley Rodgers have a reputation for being two of the sweetest people in the UK wedding industry. They also take sweet and gorgeous wedding photographs, I think you'll agree )and you can see lots more of them here by the way on Love My Dress). If you could like to talk to Pen or Cam about having your own wedding photographed, drop them a line, they would love to hear from you – you can find their contact details via their website.

Congratulations Sam and Joe, and thank you for sharing your wedding day with us all.

Let's show this couple some Friday love and leave a few lovely m shall we? That would be lovely 🙂
